Mond means moon. It is pronounced almost like the English word "moaned". See is a lake. I guess it very much sounds like the English word "say" (the "a" is stretched a little)

Reminds old Cliffie of the time in Germany when an American asked the ticket inspector, as the train approached a station: Is this Bonn? But he pronouced it with a very strong American accent. The inspector looked puzzled for a moment and then replied: Ja, Bahn, Deutsche Bundesbahn. On another occasion an American asked if there was a bathroom on the train. He was told: No, but you can have a bath at the main station when you arrive.
