by bbolts Online Now Dec 26, 2009 at 4:45 PM

I will be traveling alone in the beginning of May, to Monaco. I'd like to take a train/bus? to Venice Italy to spend a couple of nights there. Any recomendations? Must be safe, as I am female! Thanks!

By Rail An extensive train service, including daily and overnight through-trains, runs through the principality to all neighboring towns. The TGV Méditerranée line runs between Paris and Monaco (journey time – 6 hours 5 minutes). High-speed trains on this route run through the beautiful Burgundy and Provencal countryside. For more information, contact Rail Europe ..... website: www.raileurope.co.uk). Trains run to Genoa, Milan and Basel. Night trains are available to Strasbourg, Paris, Toulouse, Irun, Port-Bou, Milan, Venice, Pisa and Rome.

You can take a train from Monaco at 10.10hrs which will take you to Venice with one change in Milan arriving at Venice Santa Lucia at about 17.20hrs. Book through the French Rail site sncf. Don't be tempted to book through Rail Europe as you will pay more. Rail Europe is a booking agent only and so will charge you commission.
