we are wanting to stay some where quite for our honeymoon on the northern beaches, preferably a private cottage or smaller resort with swimming pool and close to beach, good snorkelling would be an added bonus can anybody recommend a place
Hemingways in Watamu is nice. I had a nice stay there back in 1997. We arranged for a boat to take us snorkeleing, they have a nice pool area, good service, and nice rooms, most of which I believe have balconies (well at least the ones not on the ground floor) which look out onto the Indian Ocean. We also arragned for a bus to take us to Gedi and the village of Wataum is within walking distance.

We found the idyllic 'Charli' island which is a short boat trip from the mainland. It is a small private island owned by a german company but is remarkably cheap to stay. We payed £65 a day all inclusive with free trips around the mangroves and even lessons in Swahili. The island is only tiny with a secret lagoon, pure white sand, clear turquoise water. The 'African style' bungalows are situated on the beach and offer luxurious accommodation. Hope you have fun
