Hello, I will be in Chisinau for the long (Western) Easter holidays. In the Internet I've found the Olimpia and the Zarea Hotels (also the Turist, but I am sure they are open). Please, which of these hotels would you recommend, I will alone, I am a 64 year old man, I need Wi-Fi and its best to be walking distance to the city center, so I do not waste time on transport. Hi, am of Indian origin, born and living in London. Have been asked by my employer to work in Chisinau for two years, from January 2013. I've heard many unpleasant things about how non-white people are treated in Eastern Europe, so naturally, I'm concerned as to how I maybe treated in Chisinau. Would really appreciate if anyone can give me a heads-up/advice/suggestions regarding racism in Moldova in general and Chisinau in particular. Cheers

If staying in moldova for a few months, how much is the internet? Note that I wouldn't have phone access or television access, but in the United States, even if you dont have phone access, internet companies still come out and install internet for 20 dollars per month. Someone was telling me that internet in moldova is 50 USD per hour. Could this be correct? It seems a bit high.

I will be in Chisinau in September this year, and I need a recommendation for a good quality hotel. It does not necessarily have to be cheap, I need comfort and good facilities - in a central area, if possible. Hello all I'm thinking about going from Iasi to Chisinau which i believe is about 3 hours by bus, but am also thinking about going on to Tiraspol while i am in this part of the world. Seems like a one off opportunity really. How much time would i need in both cities? Something tells me that 2 nights in each city might be a bit much. I will have to doubleback on my route too so i'm thinking about 1 night in Chisinau, then onto Tiraspol for 1 or 2 nights, then back to Chisinau, or keep going straight back to Iasi before pressing on. Any thoughts on this? Since i'm into old architecture, castles, military history and old communist type stuff then i assume i'll find plenty of what i'm looking for in the above cities... I plan to arrive in Moldova by airplane (from Timisoara), but leave by bus (to Iasi). I am wondering if, when I arrive at the Chisinau airport, if the officials will need to see an onward airplane ticket to let me in ? (many countries have such a regulation). I will have with me an airline ticket from Bucharest to Minsk, which should show that I am planning to leave Moldova in the near future, but maybe this is not enough ?

hey guys, stupid I know, but I will only have a morning and early afternoon to explore Moldova while in Iasi on business in a week and a half. I was told that there are a couple of villages on the other side of the border from Iasi. I thought just about taking a bus at 9.45am in the direction of Chisnau and getting off somewhere along the way but not more than an hour or so into Moldova so I can get back for a late afternoon meeting. I wanted to walk around in a village, maybe have a beer/coffee, take some pictures and then head back. Simple, easy, it does not need to be a great place I visit. Please help!
