Relocating/Family Friendly

My husband and I are considering relocating to the Mobile area. My question would be,is Mobile a good place to raise children, or is there a city close by that is better suited to raise children. I am looking for great schools,as near to private as you can get. Thanks for reading

Ferry services?

I know there is a ferry from Mobile to Dauphin Island, but I'm looking for a little longer trip. Does anyone know of any ferry along the gulf coast that will ferry you to Mexico or something similar? I'm just looking to go on some type adventure, so any suggestions are welcome :)

Just arrived in Mobile on a, well spur of the moment type of getaway. The downteown area is beautiful, but I'm wondering how I can get myself and my friend on a ship down here. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hotels

We are arriving Mobile on 15 JUl 06 and would like to find either three separate rooms or a suite that will sleep six adults. We also need to find a hotel that has extended parking and transportation to the Port of Mobile as we are going on a cruise with Carnival. We are members of AAA and are military retired.
