      Dancing venues and accommodation

I am planning a month vacation to Florida and would like to be based somewhere close to dance venues for ballroom latin social dancing and also be close to the coast for walks by the sea. Any suggestions please. Would it be better to rent a one bed studio flat rather than go into a hotel? Also, I shall be using public transport is that feasible?

      Colorado May 30, 2015 at 11:44 AM

Hello fellow traveler! We will be traveling to Colorado during the 2nd week of August for our first time. We will be renting a cabin for only 2 night in  Estes Park.

      1) Are there any recommendation of specific lodges to rent for the 2 nights? There will be 4 of us, not looking for anything too fancy or expensive because we would like to maximize our time outdoors.

      2) Is there anything specific you would recommend as a "must do" while in Estes Park and National Mountain Rocky Park?

Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I spotted him nearly everyday on numerous occasion all around South Beach during my stay, mostly around Lincoln Road and Washington Ave, he is always walking almost non-stop. I caught him once at Lincoln road and drexel dancing by himself in the middle of the road facing a store window. What's up with this guy? anyone knows his story or anything? • Are there any good coffee shops in Fort Lauderdale other than Starbucks?

Fort Lauderdale May 7, 2015 at 1:30 PM

      Hello,

I am from Tampa and will be heading to Fort Lauderdale in a couple of weeks. I usually enjoy independent coffee shops that offer fresh roasted small batch coffee brewed through a French press. I have done some research on yelp and came up with a few local places. If anyone else knows of a good spot please let me know. Here is what I found:

Sip Java Co - (formally Brew Urban Café) @ 638 N Federal Highway Fort Lauderdale FL. I heard that they carry Intelligentsia, Anodyne and Wells Coffee (all small roasted batches from around the world and you can brew them with a few different methods). Free wifi and good snacks or all day food offerings, tons of seating indoors and outdoors. Very quiet with free parking out front.

Brew Urban Café - 537 NW 1st Avenue in the art district. They are located in an art studio called C&I studios. Quiet and good locally roasted coffee too.

Warsaw Coffee Company - 245 E 13th St Fort Lauderdale FL. New coffee shop with lots of seating. They also offer locally roasted coffee from Argyle and have a bakery which pumps out some original and unique pastries. A little more on the pricey side of things and parking is limited.

The Alchemist - They are located in Wilton Manors which is about a 15 minute drive from Fort Lauderdale. They have a good variety of coffee and pump out some good sandwiches.

These are some of the best places to enjoy coffee. If you all have any additional info please reply!

      Orlando May 4, 2015 at 7:57 AM

      Hello,

I've yet to find a good answer to this question.

I will be starting a new job in Auburndale, FL and planned to commute from the north side of Orlando (near I-4). I understand I-4 could potentially be a nightmare during rush hour, but does it depend on the direction you're going?

Traveling south (I-4 W) during morning traffic and north (I-4 E) in afternoon traffic. Will I generally be going against heavy traffic? Estimated time typically says near 1 hour. Would you expect this to be higher, or relatively accurate?

I appreciate any insight you could offer...Thanks!

Something may have gone wrong with my previous post ... I'll try again.
While I was on holiday in the Southwest in 2010, I had a bus transfer in Albuquerque. I had a smoke outside the station and saw a huge, huge beetle that was slowly crowling forward. I always believed it was some sort of a giant cockroach, but I can't find anything on the internet that even looks like it. Since I took no pictures, people have a hard time believing it... but I know what I saw. Can anyone tell me more about this giant insect?! It must have been about 11 inches long.

Milwaukee to Toronto (ONT) Using the Ferry System

by Seabiscuit Online Now May 9, 2008 at 4:46 PM

Low and high, high and low, I have looked everywhere. Has anyone done the Milwaukee, WI to Toronto, ONT trip using the ferry system across Lakes Michigan and Huron (God, I hope that's the right lake). I'm trying to find a way to avoid a nasty trip just on the US highway system going to Connecticut. Toronto to Connecticut is a scant 9 hour drive, whereas, Rochester, MN to CT is around 20 hrs. We will be taking a car (obviously) so portage with that item is mandatory.

We'll be heading out May 20. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
A gagillion thanks to anyone that can help.

Walking at night in downtown Milwaukee?

by travelmad478 Online Now May 28, 2006 at 6:36 AM

I'm staying in MKE for one night next week at the Pfister Hotel and have thought about heading to Zaffiro's (1724 N Farwell Ave.) for dinner. I'd like to walk there, which seems to be just over a mile according to Google Maps (for me, this is a nice distance for walking).

However, is it a safe walk for a solo female in the evening? Should I take a cab, at least on the way back?

Other tasty/casual dining options for a solo diner in the downtown area also appreciated!

Hi, I lived in Appleton about 3 years ago and remember going to a very large warehouse store that stocked dinnerware, pots, etc some that came from restaurants. They also had furniture, again some new and some from closed restaurants. It was in a very out of the way neighborhood that I think was near a highway just north and west of the city. They might have also done furniture repair. It may have even been near an old brewery. Now that I am moving back to Milwaukee, I would like to visit the store again. Anyone have any ideas on the name or location? Appreciate the help.

      Hey all,

I'm going to be travelling down to your fine city in april with a friend for 4 nights to see the Frozen Four at the Bradley Center. I have started planning my trip and the cheapest I could get within walking distance of the Bradley Center is the Knickerbocker by the Lake it's about 13 blocks away. Yes, everything within one mile is booked, believe me I tried. Anyway I've been having a hard time finding info about the hotel, can anyone help me whos stayed there or lives near there? I was tossing between that and the Executive Inn more in the center of downtown, so fill me in guys, did I reserve a dump or is it decent? I'm not real picky, but I don't want to stay in a dump either, after all I just graduated from college so I had that for the last 4 years. Thanks all!

by melmoth Online Now Jun 8, 2005 at 8:39 AM

I am seeking information on cab transportation in Milwaukee. I have some mobility problems, so it is best for me to get a hotel near my ultimate destinations, and taxi to wherever those venues might be. Even realatively close parking can be trying. A cab to the door takes care of the problem. I know taxis are plentiful, but what I can't find on the web, is any idea of price. All trips would be in the downtown area, and not exceed four miles. If cab costs are beyond sensible reach then we'll have to change plans. Not: Busses are no longer a good method for me.
