Hi, In February (11-13) we are going to Veere for a weekend. I've been looking for restaurants, bars, shops,... in Veere, and I've found that everything is closed until the middle of February or March. Is it in Middelburg the same?
Middelburg is a bigger town and there will be restaurants open. Many workers from the nearby harbour, yards and industries stay in Middelburg hotels all year through. There should be some Veere restaurants open too; at least the Chinese and Greek restaurants. PJ

Hi, there's no Greek or Chinese restaurant in Veere that I know of really. It is a very touristic town in season (which starts April 1st nationally). Veere is more of a place to visit for half a day or a bit more because it is quite small but delightful so definitely worth a visit. Try Middelburg or Vlissingen for accommodation. You could rent a bike and go to Veere.

I still have one Veere restaurant on my list to explore: De Peperboom at Kapellestraat 11 Open from Wednesday throug Sunday 6PM-9PM website: http://www.peperboom.nl/ AT is right, no Greek; even no Chinese or Mexican restaurant. More luck with: Grand Café D'Oude Werf at Bastion 2-4 Roovers (French cuisine) at Polredijk 19 (open Th-Su) Eeterij Suster Anna at Markt 8 (pancakes) Ter Veere at Markt 26 (also visit nex door Bliek for local goodies) open till 6PM only! And top of the bill: waepenvanveere.nl/index2.php... at also Markt 23. I agree, the eating scene is mall at Veere and heavily depends on the summer tourists. But don't that let you scare away, PJ

Small, not 'mall', PJ. Could give rise to misunderstandings, hehe. I've eaten at some of those restaurants, including the yacht club. But then you need to be there with a boat to get in.

Yes, a "mal" typo! haha. My last Veere visit was a long time ago; didn't made it to Veere last year, but if you check my Zeeland pages: I explored a lot of restaurants in neighbouring towns. PJ

Thanks, both of you. Actually, we have reservations already in the Campveerse Toren. I knew it would be quiet there (we're going to really relax for two days), but we still have to eat right. :-) So Middelburg restaurants, set your tables!!
