I am planning on visiting Australia for the first time in Jan next year and I need some advice on where to exchange some sterling for some dollars.
Generally I have been told and actually have experienced that you get a better buying rate of the local currency when buying locally in the country you are visiting.
Is this still the case for Aus? Currently you get around 1.7 dollars for a pound here in the UK.
Can anyone give a rough idea of what the exchange rate in Aus is?
Also do the foreign exchange bureaus accept travellers cheques?
I have looked into using a credit card or debit card but there are usage fees and non-sterling fees which i am trying to avoid.
Thanks in advance!
hey guys I was wondering how the nightlife is in Brisbane & Sydney, the 2 places i am hesitating in picking where to start my Australian Journey. That is not my main reason to coming to Aus, from what I know it is a beautiful country with lots to discover. I also would like to know what sports I could do, Skydiving, cliff jumping (real fan of that) sandboarding and where the best places are! Thanks for your answers people :)
If I drive from Kings Cross..... William Street and want to cross the harbour, then onto M1 & M2 should I take the Cross City Tunnel to the Harbour Bridge or is there a better route...(I dont mind the tunnel tolls) just want the best route......it is not clear from google maps
Places appropriate for Vegans (& Raw Vegans) to travel & experience?
Hello people, my name is Jo and I am travelling to Australia from Canada for one year! I was wondering where would be the best place to start off considering I would like to meet people and socialise as im going to travel alone! My top 4 choices are Australia's biggest cities such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth. So which places are best to start iff? I know Sydney is expensive but money is not a problem as I am going to be working to fund my trip as I go.
Thanks for the answers!
I've booked a flight from Melbourne to Perth in January with Jetstar. A couple of weeks ago they send me an e-mail, telling me that the time of flight has been changed ... nothing bad, only an hour later. They asked me to accept that change and provided a link in the e-mail to their booking system.
This link however didn't work. I always got a message that the server doesn't answer. I tried it directly on their website under the booking management. The info was the same but the button "continue" went into nirwana. So there again I couldn't accept that change. So I sent an e-mail to their helpdesk asking for support. I got a feedback mail, telling me that my mail had been received and that their staff will answer as soon as possible. That was 2 weeks ago ... so far they didn't bother to answer me. But in the meantime I received 2 additional mails from their booking system, telling me again about that change and asking for confirmation ... with the same dysfunctional link.
Has somebody experience with that? I don't know if they are going to cancel that flight if I don't accept the change (what I would like to do, but can't).
