Hi, I will have a 5 hour layover in Miami on Aug. 13th. Coming from Peru, and pursuing to Canada. Assuming I will have to get my luggage and clear customs, do I have time to get out of the airport and do/see anything? Is the airport far from the city? How much time to get to the city and what is the best/cheapest way?? Any suggestions?? or am I stuck to wait in the airport. Thanks for your help, as always..
If you are booked on one ticket from Peru to Canada, then your luggage should be able to be checked thru, although upon arrival you will probably be required to claim your luggage and to thru Customs and then you will be able to give it to airline personnel at that location for the remainder of your trip. If you are booked on a separate ticket from Miami to Canada, you should be able to check in with the airline and check the luggage again. you should look the Miami airport website; http://www.miami-airport.com/ for where your airline(s) are located, etc. maybe someone else on here can give you specific details as to whether it would be worth going out of the airport; problem with 5 hrs is that with the time you need to get back thru security and checked in, there often is not a lot of time left and you don't want to risk getting held up outside the airport and be too late for your ongoing flight.

There is an express bus, Route # 150, also called Airport Flyer, which gets you to Miami Beach in about 45 minutes. You catch it at the newly opened MIA MetroRail Station. So you could have enough time to walk around and maybe have a meal before catching the bus back to the airport.
