I am planning to visit Mexico around Thanksgiving 2013, wanted to know what will be the best possible escorted tour for maximum of 5 days covering mexico city - nearby famous spots along with cancun.
i dont recommedn any tour which dare to make a 5 days tour including emxico city and cancun, there are 1000 miles between these 2 places at least 24 hours driving.,.I recommedn you to stay 3 days in mexico city and if you want to see cancun in the same tri..take a cheap flight there (volaris, interjet cheap airlines)

Five days is already short and there is nothing to see in Cancun anyway! stick to the city and surroundings...

u can spend your 5 days in Cancun and Playa del Carmen (they are only 2 hrs apart by bus).. some nice ruins and beaches near Playa del Carmen...

cancun and mexico city are fare away... you should try one or the other.. don´t miss teotihuacan in mexico city... in cancun you should go xcaret, tulum, isla mujeres, xel-ha, chichen itza, cozumel

I am afraid you are going to have to choose one or the other. Mexico City will keep you busy for a few days (I would not recommend spending less than 2 days there). Cancun is of no interest whatsoever unless you want to deal with hordes of tourists. If you absolutely want to head to the Yucatan peninsula go for Tulum. Although touristy it far nicer than Cancun or Playa de Carmen and the crowd is "nicer" too! This being said, I would stick with Mexico City as there are tons of things to do/see and you can travel to nearby colonial cities such as Puebla, Queretaro or San Miguel de Allende. Here are a few tour companies if you do not wish to travel on your own: adventures-mexico.com/privat... , http://www.thetravelingbeetle.com , http://www.andalemexico.com and a few more if you carry out a search on Goggle. Safe travels!
