One of my travel mates doesn't eat seafood (except fish), won't eat creole or Cajun food, is very allergic to black pepper, and won't eat pork or any breaded and fried food. She does eat beef and chicken. Where can we take her in NO that is moderately priced?
I so appreciate forums like these and am eager to hear your answers. My boyfriend and I are going to New Orleans the weekend of May 16 to May 19. We paid extra for our flights to get in early Friday and leave later Monday. I have been to New Orleans once for the day off a cruise ship and knew I wanted to go back. I am having a hard time narrowing things down.
I would like to do a ghost trip and have looked online, but there are so many. The walking tour called The New Orleans Ghost Tour leaving from Rev. Zombie's Voodoo Shop seems like a good one to me. Thoughts?
My boyfriend is thinking of getting a tattoo. I think we have narrowed that down to Electric Lady Tattoo
We are both in our 30's love music and are looking forward to the night life. Of course we will hit Bourbon St. but were looking for other suggestions. I heard we should hit the Sazerac Bar. I'm sure we are just going to want to come back to New Orleans...over and over again. lol
As for food, the number of restaurants are overwhelming. We have made one reservation at Palace Cafe for dinner one night. Eating is tricky for me bc I have a life threatening latex allergy and I always have to make sure no latex gloves are used in the kitchen, so we may wing that. (less of an issue in Canada) When I travel I have to be very careful. We called and I know they don't use them there so for sure one night we are taken care of. I was overwhelmed but would call a few other places if you have other suggestions.
We are so excited and don't want to waste time running in circles, so any advice is helpful. We are staying at the Best Western in the French Quarter. We decided to spend less on our hotel where we will spend so little time and more on our flights so we could have better flight times and get the most out of our stay. Thanks in advance everyone :)
At the end of May I plan to propose to my girlfriend of 3 years in New Orleans.
This is my first trip to New Orleans, but she has been there several times and loves the city. My plan is thus:
- Take her to a romantic and beautiful part of the city
- Have a traveling jazz band kind of walk up to us and start playing for us.
- Then take her to our NEW hotel, the most luxurious and romantic hotel in the city.
- This event would probably happen later in the evening after we've had a nice dinner and some drinks.
I'm already spending a bit on the ring, so I don't want to spend an exorbitant amount on the proposal. My budget for all this would cap out at $500-$800, and I only need the luxury hotel for the one night. The rest of our time there we'll be staying somewhere a little more modest.
- Where is the most romantic and beautiful view in the city?
- How would one go about hiring a jazz band to appear in a certain area at a certain time?
- Which hotel is the most romantic and luxurious and impressive?
I thank you for any info you can give me. Look forward to your responses!
My husband and I are headed to New Orleans the second week in April. That was the only time we could travel and didn't know it was French Quarter Festival. The only place I found close was on Old Gentilly Road as everything was booked or cost over $200 per night. I was just wondering is it safe to drive after dark or not. Also we have two swamp tours booked and I would like to take a day trip to Meterie Cemetery to see Millionaires Row. Are these safe trips to venture out into the daytime and do? I want to see and experience New Orleans but have read some scary things about the Big Easy and I don't want any troubles just a great time. Any advise for a first timer in NO?? Please advise as we leave next Wednesday. Thanks so much!!
