Can anyone help me find some information about any interesting places to visit in the vicinity of Messina. I will be arriving by ferry at Pozzallo early morning, I will be staying for 4 full day's there. My 1st stop will be in Sovaca. I have already been to Messina and Taormina, so I wish to visit other places which are in that area. By the way I'll be travelling with my own car. Do you have any suggestions how I would plan my itinerary and any b&b where I can stay over night. Thanks in advance Stephen

My wife and I will be arriving in Messina by cruise ship in a couple of weeks. I have a little difficulty walking but with the use of a hiking stick I get around. Because I walk at a slower pace than most, large tours are not a real option for us. Can anyone recommend a private guide/driver to take us to Taormina and the nearby areas? Are there any other options that seem worthwhile? Thanks. Alan

Our cruise ship is docking at Messina, we're will will be leaving the ship to meet family in Villa San Giovanni. Can anyone tell us the best way to get there considering we will have our luggage.

I'd like to take my family out to Tindari. And I understand it's not far. But I don't know the best way to contact/contract with a taxi driver who only wants a half day fare (and feels like working on Sunday). A late lunch in a village on the way back, maybe. The ship tours and almost all the Etna day tours I can find from Messina seem to go to the Silvestri spent craters and that's it. I want to go up higher and see more cool volcano stuff! There are bus tours from the North and at Sapienza in the South there are cable cars and other bus tours. These are the types of things I want to do. Does anyone know if such a tour is possible from Messina on about about a 7 hour max time frame? can start a tour around 10:300-11:00am and must be back by 6:00pm.

We are staying at the Villa Morgana hotel in Ganzirri in May. We are comming from Taormina by bus. I understand bus number 79 and 81 go to Ganzirri from Messina. My question is whether one of the theese busses stop at or near this hotel or is there a main bus station in ganzirri? Thank for any help. nagyboo

I see from the Trenitalia site that there are four stations in Messina. What is the difference between Messina Centrale and Messina Main Station?

In September, my friends are planning to take a Holland American line with following excursions. It seems the cruiseline arranged tours are filled, can anyone recommend good/reliable day tour (that could take you from the dock, tour and back to dock?) at Messina, Sicily? Is there any good day tour company picking them up from the cruise ship, have a tour of around etc then take them back to the cruise ship? How much would this cost? We want to rent a car when we get off our cruise ship in Messina. Does anyone know if there are any nearby car rentals at decent prices? We arrive there on a Monday and want to go to Bronte. Will there be places open do you think in Bronte and other towns along the way? I assume they close for a few hours in the afternoon.
