local guides or reliable taxi service in the Messina area

My wife and I will be on a cruise making a relatively brief stop in Messina on October 20, 2008 (arriving 7am, departing 2pm). We would like to find an English speaking guide to drive us to Pistunina and Zaffarina, the birthplace of my grandparents. Does anyone have a recommendation for a guide or advice as to how I can find a guide service. The Internet search that I have done has not been useful. Thanks.
