    • Durango or Estes Park Honeymoon

      Colorado Aug 4, 2015 at 1:39 PM

Hi, we are looking at eloping to Colorado in May 15- 21st. Since this is our first trip to Colorado, I need help deciding what area we need stay and tour. What I am thinking is Durango- Mesa Verde, train ride to Silverton, Million Dollar Hwy, Black Canyon,- Any Suggestion?? Or Estes Park- RMNP, Trail Ridge Road, and would love to see Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods but not sure about their driving distances?? Maybe there is other things to do in the area? I'm also having really hard time finding a little chapel or somewhere in either area that just does just a simple bride groom elopement ceremony. Any help with this would be appreciated!!! Thanks

      Best National Parks in Colorado

      Colorado Aug 9, 2015 at 8:29 AM

I'm planning a trip to Colorado and Utah in October to visit the National Parks. I'm flying to Denver and then taking an RV to tour the area for 12 days. We will definitely be going to Rocky Mountain Park in Colorado and Arches and Zion in Utah. Any tips on which are worth a visit and whether you would camp or drive through We want to do a mixture of walking, photography and activities while we are there.

      Thanks, friends.

Logistics of touring Spruce Tree, Cliff house, Balcony House

by swdke Online Now May 12, 2010 at 12:24 PM

If I were to arrive at Mesa Verde Visitor's center early enough to obtain tickets for Cliff House, and Balcony House, assuming I could get tickets to both, and I also wanted to visit Spruce Tree, what would be the logistics of seeing all three in a day?

For example, of these three, which do I visit 1st, 2nd, 3rd?

How much time should I allow for each?

How much time is necessary to get from one tour, and be there in time for the next location's tour?

Has anyone managed to do these three in a day?

      Thanks for your help.

If I only have a day, how should I spend my day at Mesa Verde Natioal Park? What should I be sure to see and do, and what not to miss. Can you suggest an itinerary on how to plan out my day? Thanks!

What is drive time from Moab to Mesa Verde National Park? I've checked various online map web sites, but each gives a different answer. Thanks.

Mapquest shows driving time from the Tusayan, AZ to Cortez, Colorado as 4 1/2 hours. Does this seem accurate? How long does it take to take a detour to the Four Corners Monument?

      Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon and...?

by CesVT Online Now Aug 26, 2008 at 3:44 PM

Hi! After the VT Texas Meet on Sept. 27-28, I was thinking of flying west to a yet unidentified location (Santa Fe? Phoenix? Las Vegas?) where I could rent a car (unless public transportation could be an option, but I doubt it) and head to the Grand Canyon and Mesa Verde National Park, doing maybe some kind of loop and seeing other sights on the way (I have about 11 days)... Thing is, I have no idea what the roads and weather can be like in that area by late Sept.-early Oct. and I'd rather avoid heavy traffic... What then would be the best starting point?
Also, I'm not sure how much I can see in that time span, given that I'd really like to go to these 2 spots, but there seems to be a lot to see in that area... Any recommendation is welcome - also regarding guided tours and accommodation (I'm more or less on a budget)...
'Merci beaucoup' if you can help! :-)

      Which ranger guided tour?

by wendyjol Online Now Mar 24, 2008 at 3:47 AM

This summer we will visit Mesa Verde NP. We will be arriving at the park around 4 pm. We like to purchase tickets for a ranger led tour for the next morning.
Which tour do you suggest? Cliff palace, Balcony House or Long House. We are a family of four. Kids 13 and 15.

We have booked a room in the Far View Lodge. Any suggestions how to spend our evening in the Park?

After the ranger led tour we still have some time befor we leave for Monument Valley and Four State Corners. What should we not miss?

I'm going to Mesa Verde in April. I don't think the lodge is open yet. Will it be snowy? Any hot tips for hikes, motels, restaurants in the area?
