    Google IOWA Institute and Venusa.

They are both Spanish schools in Merida. There are a lot of private instructors available as well that are usually happy to give private lessons.

    Hi there,

I've taught at both VENUSA and the IOWA institute, and I would definitely recommend the IOWA institute. They offer conversational classes tailored to your needs, the teachers are well prepared and pretty easy-going, the courses and schedule are extremely reliable. Plus, the location is much nicer than the other school because it is close to the Plaza Bolivar, the theater and performing arts venues and el boulevard de los pintores in case you want to enjoy an amazing coffee, downtown shopping areas and it's in general a more relaxed and bohemian environment. The traffic can be a pain on the Av. Urdaneta. Enjoy your time in Merida and let us know how it goes!
