Accomodation in Mornington Peninsula

by Sherylll Online Now Apr 15, 2012 at 2:32 AM

Hello! We need some advise on accomodation in Mornington Peninsula. My boyfriend and I will be travelling to Melbourne on 19th June this year. Very excited about this! =) We'll be renting a car and driving from Philip Island (Staying in Tropicana Motor Inn the previous night) to Mornington Peninsula. We'r planning to stay here for a night before catching the Sorrento Car Ferry to the GOR the next day. Need some advise on accomodation here. I've read reviews online that Peppers Moonah Link at Rosebud is great, will you be able to advise is this is near any of the main attractions in MP? I understand that it is very near to the Peninsula hot springs which we'r planning to visit. I did a search on google map and found out that it would be around an hours drive from Peppers to the car ferry at Sorrento. Will it be better to stay in Peppers or should we stay somewhere near Sorrento? Any advise would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

MP is quite strange in that there are few motels where accom is a bit cheaper. There are however many B&B's which I think have become very expensive. A few years ago we stayed at http://www.morningtonmotel.com/ for 2 nights as we had a wedding to attend. That motel is quite OK and close to the main street of Mornington where there are plenty of eateries. Might be OK for what you want and not too far for the drive to Sorrento for the ferry.

I wouldn't think that it would take an hour from Moonah Links to Sorrento. Mornington is further away. It really won't matter where you stay if you have a car and want to have a look around anyway. The attractions are all over the peninsular so it depends on what you're going to be wanting to visit but Moonah Links looks pretty central to everything. Not near the beach but then you're travelling in mid winter so I don't suppose you're going to be spending too much time at the beach!
