Hi, my suggestion is that you find a hotel once you reach McLeod Ganj. There are plenty of cheap hotels and guesthouses here and once you are here, you can hunt for the best bet. October is not a peak-season but yes still you'll find lots of local and foreign travellers. Accomodation is in plenty so no need to book in advance. McLeod Ganj is not very big and you can easily walk around and find an accomodation (you can even drop your luggage at a cloak room and then look up for a hotel if you mind carring your bulky bags around). Hope this helps.

hi! i 've visited mclodeganj in november 2005 . there are plenty of cheap hotels in bhagsunag near dharamkot ranging from inr 250 onwards. what i would suggest you is to trek upto triund and stay there in a cave (there are plenty of them )or in a gujjar hut ( shepard shelter )which you would find in laka got ie where snowline srarts. there are small shops also which would charge u rs 150 per night.
