I am coming out to Macleod Gange in April 2006 with my husband and two children aged 8 and 13. It is their first time in India. I was going to book at Chonor House but i know it is pricey. As there are four of us, money is a bit of an issue. Do you think it is best to pay more and make sure my family have the very best rooms or do you think there are cheaper hotels where they would still feel they had great rooms and service? Can you advice which ones? Advice much appreciated Many thanks Sarah
Hello Sarah I visit Mcleod Ganj regularly. I would pay for the best I can afford so that you can relax and recuperate and have a definite booking when you arrive. I dont know where you will be arriving from but if youre tired its good to be in a hotel with good facilities and service. You could stay at Chonor for a couple of days and then look around. The better hotels are along the road that has the Pema Thang guest house and restaurant on it. These inlcude Him Queen (read my review) Him Queen annexe etc. Always ask to see the room that you may be renting.
