hi i have planned my honeymoon in mauritius towards the end of november '13. we have done booking in The Residence.
we have a stay for a week, wanted to know about the activites in which we can involve during our stay ?
Which time of the year do the locals do a lot of travels and which time of the year it is less touristy in general? I am not tied to a certain time to spend my holidays but would like them from mid-Jan. to mid april, to escape for a while from the cold in Europe.
Has anyone travelled around without hotel booking, just finding something as you get there (therefore a low-season is necessary)?Tks
Is February a good time to visit Mauritius? I want to travel around by local bus and occasionally enjoy a nice beach but I am not a beach person, I rather discover things. Has anyone travelled around there in guest houses, if I estimate a budget of 60 Euros for accomodation and eating around local places should this be reasonable? I am not interested in resorts, I rather mingle with the locals.
Does anyone know if Russian passport holders need a visa and where to get them?

Leaving to Mauritius on 21st July for our honeymoon. I am just curious to know if we are to carry any minimum amount of USD for our stay (5 days). The VISA requirements says a minimum of 100USD per day per person is required.
Is it really like that?
Do Indian citizens travelling from India to Mauritius need a visa to visit Mauritius for tourism purpose? If visa on arrival is available, do we need to fill out an application before getting there?
I 'll be going to mauritius for my honeymoon. Approx how much dollar should we carry with ourselves (2 people) to spend 6 nights/7 days in mauritius .
I'm traveling to Rodrigues in 4 weeks, for a 2 week stay. I will meet up with a friend om Ils Reunion. She is not to keen on snorkeling or diving. Any tips on what to do ? Myself I'm an eksperinced diver (300 dives) so I know i will be in the water. :-)
I would also like some tips on transportation ? Would i need it ? Think of motorbike ? Is that a good idea ?

I arrive in Mauritius next week for 3 days. My husband is there on business and I am going to sightsee. I am a keen photographer and would like to know what are the best photographic destinations that I can see in 3 days (people, places, animals). I have my own transport. Is this wise or is it better to hire a taxi for the day? I was looking at doing a Catamaran cruise for a day (to see the dolphins, Benitiers Island, Crystal Rock) but I am not sure that this may be at the cost of missing out on other important sites. I will be staying just outside of Port Louis.
To celebrate a couple of momentous recent events in the clan, we have booked a week in Mauritius in mid June.
We'll be staying at Le Victoria in the north west, and fortunately the package is all inclusive (as my research indicates that this can be a complete minefield). However, due to the parlous state of the rand and my cheapskate tendencies, I am investigating affordable ways to explore the island, as well as interesting and quirky things to see/do.
Things we'd be interested in include swimming with dolphins, whale watching, horse riding (preferably on the beach), snorkelling in Blue Bay, bird watching (especially for the Mauritian endemics) and anything to do with dodos. We're also not averse to renting a car or using local transport. But this is only a preliminary list, so please feel free to share your experience of things you've done that you really enjoyed: I didn't find as much as I was expecting when I browsed the existing Mauritius pages.
Looking forward to your guidance!
I have booked to stay at the Belle Mare Plage for two weeks from the 02/09/2013. I do not like cold windy weather should I transfer to a hotel on the west coast baring in mind my husband wants to play golf
I'll be on my honeymoon trip to Mauritius for 9 days. I've booked Tarisa Resort hotel (in Trou aux Biches) on half board basis. I need an estimate for 9 days lunch for 2 people in a decent hotel. The honeymoon package also includes 3-day tours. Apart from those, we will be taking 1 or 2 optional paid tours (visit to an island and watersport maybe). How much money in Mauritian Rupees should I carry? Please advise.
Greetings. We are on our way to Mauritius in a few weeks time. We booked an al inclusive package via Beachomber Tours al the Le Victoria Hotel. What can we expect? What do we have to "look out" for? Any suggestions? Thanks, Jaco
I am looking for a beautiful villa/hotel for 2 nights in July for 6 of us friends. What is the best part to stay at that time of the year, and what are some good reasonable hotels. Our budget is between $400 - $500 a night for all of us.
is there an ATM at the International airport so that i can withdrw money before I go to the HOTEL.
I wanted to get an idea on the price of water sports activities in Mauritius. The quotations given by my honeymoon planner are pretty high and wanted to know the right prices. If anyone has been there recently and can share their experience, it is highly appreciated.
