Hi all. Im considering a road trip to Mali from the UK next Dec. Having difficulty finding any info on routes once i get Morrocco, thru Mauritania to Kayes Mali. I know it can be done! It would be great to get some tips.
When it comes to security, Mauretania is not very safe at the moment. Also, it is very risky to do this trip alone. A convoy with good landrovers and people who have technical skills will be helpful.

I suggest you E mail david.visagie@gmail.com He has led road trips from UK all the way to South Africa and UK to China. He does the silk road tour in Range Rovers. If any one can tell you or point you in the right direction it is him. And yes as the previous poster said Mauritania is NOT friendly territory. The Dakar Rally has been cancelled because of theats here. It has now been re-located to SouthAmerica because of incidents there.
