Hello fellow-travelers, We are flying in from Paris at 6:40pm and our connection leaves at 9:20am the next morning. Any advice what to do during that time is welcome. How is the airport to hang around? Any not-too-expensive accommodation near the airport? Thanks, Theo

    • Ethnic group distribution in what city?

      Martinique Aug 12, 2007 at 3:49 PM

Are there any ethnic cities? Is there a "chinatown" area in Martinique? What's the ethnicity distribution around the island? (like are there more native Martinitians in one city? or more Asian people in another?) I am going to Martinique in a little over a week and we still have to decide on where to live. Ive looked into Les Trois Ilet, Les Anses d'Arlet, Ste. Anne, and Le Francois. Is there a city that strikes out to anyone? Any recommendations? I am interested in relaxing beaches, snorkeling fun, relatively big cities, etc. Please help! Thanks!

hi there everyon/anyone my husband and i will be staying in virgin gorda (near tortola) in november for a week or so and we were thinking of going to martinique for 2 to 3 weeks afterwards. we are wondering if anyone of you folks have been there in november, what the weather is like and VERY IMPORTANT if you have ideas on where to stay. at the risk of sounding "fussy" we do NOT like all inclusives. we would like an effidiency unit on or very near the beach. our main reason for this holiday is to snorkel, scuba dive and relax/read on the beach. can ANYONE out there give us some info??? should we think of another island instead. language is NOT a problem. we would like to bood something SOON. HELP IS NEEDED HERE. thanks

      Martinique Mar 1, 2006 at 2:58 PM

Hello, and thanking anyone in advance for some help to a question I have. I will be traveling by cruiseship next month, and was wondering about a nice beach about 1/2 hour from the pier. I have heard about Point du Bout, but it looks rather crowded. I was hoping for something less crowded, yet close to someplace where we could get eats and drinks. Thank you.

    • Martinique in a day...

      Martinique Aug 13, 2003 at 3:44 PM

Hey VT! I'm planning on taking a cruise through the S. Caribbean in early June ('04) and will be stopping by Martinique for a day. We arrive at Fort-de-France around 11am and leave around 6pm, which is unfortunate for such a neat island that I actually studied in French class. What would you suggest I do to see the island in 7 hours or less? I know St. Pierre is interesting (or is it?) and seeing the fishing villages in the north is neat. But is it also possible to get to the south (i.e. Les Salines and Diamond Beaches?) in a day? If not, what spots would be the best to see! Would renting a car be worth-while, or is there another easy way to get around? Help is greatly appreciated as always! Thanks, Nathan.
