Only two more questions!!

by diana_renou Online Now Jul 11, 2012 at 2:53 PM

Many thanks all of you for your advice!!! I would like to know only two more questions: Are there any coffee like Costa Coffe, or Cilandro Coffe in Marrakech? It is very different to go during the Ramadan? Should I go to another place if one part of my trip is in Ramadán? Many thanks!! I really apreciate your help!!

I'm sure that if you hunt for them there will be western style coffee shops, however the local drink is mint tea which is everywhere. Our favourite place for it was La Maison Arabe (members.virtualtourist.com/m... . Marrakesh is an amazing city. Not sure about Ramadan, I'm sure you'll get an answer. Bruce

coffee in Morocco is excellent - they have had a strong influence from the French of which coffee and patisseries still remain....one of the best things I like about being in Morocco is for the coffee so you wont have problems finding coffee in pretty much any cafe. There are a number of good places to sit around the centre of Marrakech - the Djma Elfna for coffee and also the renowned sunset time. There are a few cafes with upstairs balcony seating for the sunset and to watch the spectacles and spectators arrive, along with all the food and orange juice stands. One of our favourite places for coffee, orange juice, breakfast and a budget meals is Cafe Toubkal on the north edge of Djma elfna. One of Marrakechs most famous pattiseries is in one of the streets parallel to and behind the street that Hotel Ali is in. and does good coffee, orange juice and cakes and biscuits. It should be called Petit Prince. but is in amongst my tips in my Marrakech travel page here in VT if youd like to check. Ramadan usually makes no difference to be in Morocco - except its like festival time..when the sun goes down and the Moroccans can eat again they tend to splash out with a party like meal and then they eat again at midnight - so Marrakech becomes a pretty lively place much later than usual into the evenings. But this year and last year Ramadan has fallen during the hottest months of the year which can make it an even more trying time for Moroccans...so when usually its not a problem to sit out in public and not worry about being seen eating and drinking (as even though you think it maybe obvious youre not doing ramadan cause youre not Muslim, travellers and the unwell do not have to do Ramadan, so not veryone is fasting and the Moroccan people are generally a very tolerant and understanding lot, I think itd be kinder and less likely to be provocative to choose to sit in less noticeable places.

In Morocco you would never bother yourself to lookfor a good coffee it is everwhere. you could find a good places in the mainsquare also in the madern part Gueliz, very nice places to have coffee in . but during Ramadan the most are closed during the daytime except the touristy places which allowing tourists not muslim to get their food and their drinks but not outside during Ramadan they serve things inside
