HI ive lived in manly although i dont now ,but the experience is still fresh in my mind .Manly is fairly commercailized although it also has a cool hip surfy vibe about it as well ,generally rent wouldnt be much more than anywhere else in sydney and you can find accomadation to suit anyones needs from backpacker type hostel accomadation to share type with others or a house or apartment depends what your after check out www.realestate.com.au go to the rental section and although it might not have alot in the manly area you will get an idea on prices other suburbs close to manly im talkin a stones throw distance are fairlight, harboard, queenscliff.balgowlah, manlyvale you might consider these aswell as brookvale or dee why all of these including manly are well set up with public transport to anywhere in sydney for work purposes and are all close to the beach .Theres plenty of work in most people that live in manly on a whole travel else where to get to there jobs although there would be work in manly aswell just have a visa and youll do fine sydneys great for casual work .Living in Australia id recommend it to anyone ,its safe its fun its friendly its different ,winters coming now and it does get a little chilly but not much under 10' celsius its mild climate in winter good luck ,

Manly isn't a town but a suburb. It is just a ferry trip (20 minutes) from the city. There's a nice beach with many shops and restaurants,it has a nice atmosphere. To share an apartment in Sydney is about 180.00 a week. Food will probably cost about50.00 to a100.00 a week for your shopping. A meal in a restaurant is about15 to50. Bus tiket is about20.00 a week. We are happy to help you. We love our city.
