New Year's Day, not much. But New Year's Eve -- it's a war zone! It's a noisy revelry of fireworks everywhere by everyone. Probably all kinds of noisemakers imaginable go off at the strike of midnight, not just at Roxas Blvd, but virtually anywhere in the country.

hello. Actually fireworks display was held last year at Macapagal Blvd, it's a newly built blvd parallel to Roxas blvd where the new mall ( Mall Of Asia ) is located. There's a lot of hang out places there where you can safely watch. there was even a competition last year that was participated by lots of countries represented by their embassies here. I hope you push thru with your plan to spend new year here. Just e mail me whatever questions. "Mabuhay"

New Year's Eve celebration in the Philippines is probably noisier than being in a warzone. The tradition of driving bad luck and evil away with noisemakers have been taken to extreme level esp. with the creative use of gun powder. Some Filipinos who suffer from asthma check into high rise hotels to get away from the smoke of the revelry. New Year's Day always finds the street littered with spent fireworks and the hospitals full of patients with fireworks-related injuries (blasted hand, missing fingers, burns, etc).

or you can spend your new year's eve at a five-star hotel in manila. hotels normally offer new year's eve parties. no risk of getting injured from all the blasts, and you get to meet a lot of people

If you want to stay in Manila, especially during New Year's Eve, make sure that you're fine with noise and a whole lot of fireworks.Around 1am, go to the New Year street parties in Malate, Manila or in Makati. However, most foreigners go to the beaches of Boracay, Puerto Galera, and Cebu to celebrate the extended holiday. Lots of merrymaking!] Regards!

Manila would be very noisy and very polluted on New Year's eve starting from around 10 pm. I'd recommend staying at a hotel by Roxas boulevard to watch the fireworks and not be affected by the pollution it creates.

You can just watch fireworks or be a kid and light them up yourself. Your choice. If you don't fancy fireworks, there will be parties everywhere. Really good ones will be in Boracay. =D
