The origin of Beas river is at Rohtang Pass at the altitude of 4350 meters in Pir-Panjal ranges at the north of Distt Kullu. It flow through the beautiful valleys of Kangra, Kullu and Mandi.It flows for 256 km. in Himachal Pradesh and the total lenght of this river is 460 kms. At Pandoh, in Mandi district, Pong dam constructed and from this dam the waters of the Beas have been diverted through a big tunnel to join the Satluj for the purpose of production of hydroelectricity. The best time for Rafting & Kayaking is along the Beas River from May to mid-June, and depending on the monsoon, from mid-September to mid-October in Kullu Distt. The trip generally are begins at the place Pirdi to Jhiri with the distances of 16kms.
