Just wondering what are the temperatures during the day in the month of June? What should I pack for the trip??
I was just up in Mammoth on Saturday and it was about 80 degrees in town at noon, but much cooler on the Mountain. As to what to pack, it really depends on what you are doing. You may need a light jacket in the morning and be ready to de-layer down to shorts and t-shirts in the afternoon. There is a significant difference in weather between the town and the ski area, even though they are very close. I expect the road to Devils Postpile to be open in less a month, but if they have a late season storm it may be longer. You can still find snow around in June. There is great hiking around Mammoth. I just did the 5 mile + route up and back to Sherwin Lakes in about 2 hours. But you should have good hiking boots and carry water. Plus a good sun hat, sunglasses and suntan lotion. Karl
