How much per day?

by evancheong Online Now Jul 1, 2003 at 9:13 PM

I'll be going to various places in Sweden namely: Oland, Gothenburg, Gotland and Malmo. Honestly I have no clue on how much I have to budget myself per day. Accomodation is not part of the budget. Will US$40 be enough per day in these cities? Cheers!

You will be a bit tight with the budget as the dollar this year on record law, but you can live from 40$ per day if you buy the food in supermarkets and it will be even enough for quick food places, snacks, cafés etc. For dining in restaurants, drinking alcoholic drinks, shopping, transportation between cities etc. you will need additional funds.

Will try and increase my budget to about US$60. At least I don't have to worry too much even if I need to travel from city to city. How about Finland, is it very costly to travel there for 1 week?

The high cost will be to take the ferry from Sweden to Finland. Beside that prices here are about similar as Sweden, Denmark & Norway are even more expensive.

Stick to the area around the Möllevångstorget square for cheap "hole-in-the-wall" style food (although it won't be Swedish as this is where the immigrants have their supermarkets and restaurants). Avoid picturesque Lilla Torg square with cosy but expensive restaurants and bars.
