My wife and I will be in Mali for about 4 weeks. We would like to know how easy it is to travel the distances between Bamako and Timbuktu and back (overland), stopping wherever and moving on when we feel we are ready. Obviously delays and discomfort are part of the fun, but how diffucult is it really?? Anyone who has done this route by "public transport", can you please tell us some things we might do to assist our travels and other things to avoid.
