Hello. I am planning a trip to Mali during the second half of November 2005. I am seeking a unique way to arrive in Timbuktu. I do not want to fly in, nor take a bus, car, or boat. I would like to arrive on CAMEL. I am looking for a local guide who can take me on this journey. I have thought of 2 possible start points, Goundam or Douentza, which take about 3 or 5 days, respectively. Has anyone done a similar trip? Or, do you know of guides who can help me arrange this? I am looking to know the cost of guides, camel rentals, food, etc. In addition, once I arrive in Timbuktu, I would like to arrange a multi-day trip into the Sahara. Possibly 3 days, or 4? Thanks a bunch.
