We are going to Maldives for our honeymoon in sept this year, we are thinking about doing the secluded island tour, they drop ius at the private island for a few hours with food and a mobile phone, if we were to engage in honeymoon activities, is this wrong?? Would we be punished for swimming nude etc?? We don't want to end up behind bars on our honeymoon!
have booked to go to centara ras fushi, new resort. can someone please give me some information regarding this resort,as the only info i can find is that it is not open yet and is on an island 2miles from an island that is used to burn rubbish
We are visiting the island as a port stop for 1.5 days next Jan. 2014. Is the island and nearby surrounding doable on your own? If not, is public transit reliable and avail? Thank you for all input/suggestions

Are there any interesting things to see in Male? My husband and I will be in Maldives for 5 nights, staying at Park Hyatt. Our flight departs Male around 10:30pm (to Japan). Our hotel will be arranging our flight from the island (park hyatt) to Male. I'm deciding if we should arrive Male in the early afternoon (2pm) and do an afternoon city tour (Male) before catching our 10:30pm flight or if we should just stay at our hotel until it's time to catch a flight home? Suggestions? Thanks!

My budget for one night , under USD 200 will do fine. Can anyone help me build my itinerary and Suggest costs. Any help would be very much appreciated.
OK, I wanted to run this by you folks that have been just so I got everything. I am bringing my sister because she is a CA survivor and this is on her bucket list. I am bringing my own snorkling gear; I bought a Pentax WG-2 (shock proof, sand and dust proof, waterproof to 40 ft, shoot HD movies, etc). I live in CO so I got the sunscreen part. I thought of going to a tanning bed prior to leaving so I don't fry...I'm a blonde. I bought a Sawyer Water Filter (tried in Bangledesh) so we can filter the desalienated water out of the faucets. I know they don't search your person on arrival so the booze is going in a Playtpus and in my pocket. I'm a medic so I got the med part; although I am buying travel insurance for the big stuff. Air ambulance type stuff. Now THC, I know things cooked with Canna Butter do not smell. Also have access to THC candies which I can throw in with all my other snacks. It is nice to know I don't need to pack much so I can bring more snacks. I just got the Breakfast and dinner pkg. Do you think if I brought ziplock bags we can 'sneak' fruit and other stuff out from breakfast? Got the deet. ANything else I have forgot plz feel free to embelish. Thanks
My question is a bit strange but I don't know where else I can get help. Anyway, a couple of years ago I was given a souvenir wooden platter from the Maldives, in the form of a fish. Weigthwise, the plate is very light. I would like to buy more plates or platters like that but I don't know what kind of wood this might be. I'm guessing it's a traditional souvenir but google hasn't been helpful so far. Anyone here knows what kind of wood it might be made of? Thanks

Hi, I am going to the Maldives for 2 weeks at the beginning of December, I shall be staying at the Sun Island Resort and Spa. I have a few queries that hopefully people will be able to help with: I am led to believe that the best currency to use is the US$ or credit cards, is this the case? They say to carry some US$'s on arrival to tip the guy that takes the bags to the room, what is the recommended amount to tip? I have chosen the Half Board option, if when out there it seems a better idea to upgrade to all inclusive, is this easy to do? Do you usually pay for the drinks when out there or is it charged to your room to settle at the end of the stay? I will be travelling alone, will I feel out of place as most will be there as couples? Has anyone stayed on the island before so could advise me of the best side of the island to stay on? (I will be in a standard deluxe villa) any help greatly appreciated, along with any tips for whilst I am out there
Hi All. I am planning to visit the Maldives in September for the first time. I will be alone. I am looking for a hotel that is luxurious and has a great spa for a relaxing vacation that I want to spend walking on the beach and reading. I have shortlisted the following hotels from a quick comparison on a Booking site: 1- Anantara Veli Maldives (Dhigufinolhu Island, PO Box 2014, South Male Atoll, 08190 South Male Atoll). 2- Naladhu Maldives (Veligandu Huraa, PO Box 2014, South Male Atoll, 08410 South Male Atoll). 3- Baros Maldives (PO Box 2015, North Male Atoll, 08120 Kaafu Atoll). Which one suits me better? And do you recommend other hotels that I might have missed in my comparison? Thanks a lot all. VidER
Hi all, I have never learnt how to swim! As I am going to the Maldives soon, I don't want to miss out on the opportunity to experience swimming there. Is there a good, safe, and trusted place for me to learn swimming there? from the extreme basics on? I prefer one-to-one as it may be a bit embarrassing for me to be in a class full of kids!
Hi ! My husband and I are planing go diving to Maldives between middle of nov and mid of feb. Hi there can anyone advise what safety standards exist for bathroom fittings in the maldives etc safety glass? Do they conform to British Safety Standards or do they have there own safety standards? Any help would be much appreciated
The choice is overwhelming but based on glass in floor in the water bungalows and the diving what do you think about this one in respect of the service and the AI Chaaya Lagoon Hakuraa Huraa
Hi all I land in Male airport and my domestic flight is 5 hours later. I have already been to the Maldives and my memory of the domestic terminal is not great. There is basically nothing to do. There will be 2 of us with a small backpack and a big diving bag each. Any suggestion as to what to do, where we could go between landing & our domestic flight? Any idea where we could dump our bags for a few hours? We don't necessaryly want a beach, just a nice place to wait for approx 3 hours until it's time to go to the domestic terminal. Best to stay on the airport island. Any ideal welcome! Tx.
Hello every one, I am planing to go to the Maldives (Male Island I think) and would like to paint the beautiful landscape there. As a french painter, I cannot bring my materials with me in the plane, so I would like to by blank canvas, easel and pencils on the Island. Does anyone of you know if I can find a store or something like that on the Island? I have no idea, it would be my first time in the Maldives... :) Thank you so much for your help!! Cheers, Samuel
I am taking my vacations in Maldives next month and staying in a water villa. However, there is a worry keep annoying me recently: the security of staying in a water villa I mean, of course there is a door with lock in the front entrance to your villa just like staying in a hotel. However, as we all are aware of that there is a ladder in the back of EVERY water villa that allows you to step down into the water. You have good access to water while it seems no lock or anything to stop from trespassing. It seems anyone staying next to you has easy access to your villa from back without efforts. :( Could please someone staying in a water villa before share your opinions/suggestion with me??? Thank you.
Dear all, Am planning a trip to this beautiful island coming feb. I need advice and recommendations! 1) which good water villa/bungalow to recommend with a budget of about1500 per night. 2) what good restaurant to recommend other than the underwater restaurant in Conrad? 3) better package from the hotel / local agent / UK agent Looking forward to replies. Cheers!!!
Hi VT-Members and Experts, I'm going to Maldives around Nov. this year and will stay at Holiday Inn Kandooma. I would like to ask whether there are other methods to get to the resort by myself? Since the resort-staff quotes me a price of USD183/person for the airport to resort transfer! Besides, my arrival time will be at about 2000 O'clock. Is that possible? Thank you in advance!! Happy travelling! Aaron
Hi - My wife & I are planning a trip to Maldives for end Nov '11 / early Dec '11. As like with most people, we have a limited budget, but would want to stay there for at least a week. Any recommendations on good hotels / resorts to stay in at ~USD 70-100/night (excluding F&B). The hotel can be non-branded but should have good service, clean rooms / bathrooms and a decent location. In addition, can you please suggest what all beaches we should cover in a week, and what is the most convenient & cheapest transportation mode to get around? How much does it cost? Thanks a lot in advance for your inputs!
Hi friends, Is october right time to visit maldives? If yes then can you please suggest from where shld I do bookings? I have a budget of INR 1 Lac... Want to see blue sea and a villa above the sea......
I will try to be *very explanatory*. I am sorry if it feels boring, but don’t want to risk. Want to put out everything as this is very special to me. Don’t want to miss out on anything which could lead to a less pleasant experience) Hi travelers. I am Mayank from New Delhi, India, getting married in 1st week of February next year. I am planning to go for honeymoon in mid feb, say starting from 12 Feb or so. So far, what I have in mind definitely has a beach, as I think it is very romantic, plus also gives you more privacy, provided the location is frequented by honeymooners more than family crowd. My budget is around 100,000 INR, or at max 125,000 INR (roughly 2000-2700 USD) for everything. In this budget I have to fit in a decent honeymoon location along with stay which I want to be as long as possible (but not less than 5D/6N) (very little flexible). So, so far I sound like a typical customer, who wants to spend as less as possible but get best bang for his buck. Nothing wrong with that, I guess. My next preference is a water bungalow/water resort (a room/apartment/accomodation in midst of water) or whatever you guys call it. I fell for it the first time I saw a picture of one such Tahitian bungalow with a small boat parked. It seemed romantic, isolated and private. Just perfect as per my desired levels. I thought these bungalows were only available in Tahiti, so I made up my mind that I will definitely go there with my would-be wife, if not for honeymoon, then after some years when we have saved some money. I was settled for an island honeymoon with typical accommodation (hotels et al). Then, I saw an advert of similar accommodation in other islands. I was looking at only Mauritius and Maldives, as they are the only one *probably* fitting in my budget. Now, I cant seem to decide which one of the two is better for me. In February, which of the two places will be better in my budget, as per my preference (as close as possible, I understand I wont get an Audi if I pay for a Hyundai). I can, may be shift my dates a little (a couple of months) if I get great ideas. Which of the two will be cheaper from India in February? I read, it is cyclone season in Mauritius during Feb, so I have almost ruled out Mauritius for this reason (unless, of course there is something great which is worth waiting a couple of months). That left me with Maldives. I think it is beautiful. But I don’t know where to start. I am pretty good at researching with net, but right now one, my home pc is notworking and two, I read feb is the peak time for Maldives, so I should have already booked by now. So I think I might already be too late and have no time left for extensive research myself. What should I look in for when searching for a location/ atoll with my preferences like privacy, small crowd with minimal family crowd (zero?) Which ones would you recommend in this tight budget but with minimum crowd? Snorkelling/ diving would be okay but not hard pressed for that as don’t have budget and also both of us are non-swimmers, having only touched shallow pools of 4-4.5ft depths. So if it does happen, it will be amateur level. Is Maldives possible at all? Or should I look at some other places? What all questions should I be asking my travel agent. Can I get a booking now for this amount? Or is should settle for whatever I get and wrap it up asap. Please recommend a few islands and water bungalows. I had my first contact with a local agentcouple of days back and he suggested me Bali. I am not convinced with Bali as I think it is a very popular tourist destination, so not exactly an ideal spot for honeymooners looking for isolation and privacy. Is Bali (pvt pool accommodation) better than Maldives for things I am looking for? He also showed me a few water bungalows. I saw the URL of the website and one was 'Adaaran' and the other was 'The royal santrium'. Are these good. Anything better you can suggest? I am open to new entirely different location suggestions. P.S. 1: Is choosing travel agent from your own country advisable or can I choose local Maldives agents as well if I get a good offer (I read a couple of threads mentioning local Maldivian agents). P.S. 2: Any honeymooners from India can guide us? About accommodation/ travel agent etc etc).
Does anyone can update me the current situation there in Maldives? Chaos/danger/back to normal? Or any recommendation? Thank you.
