Hi, Picked up several good tips already on how to navigate from Melcesine to Venice. What I'm unsure about is how long each leg of the journey will take. (1) Melcesine to Peshiera del Garda by 62/64 bus. I plan to connect with the 10.13 train to Venice Mestre(assuming I cannot go direct to Venice Santa Lucia). How long will the bus take to leave enough time to connect with the l0.13 train? (2)When I arrive at Venice Mestre how long by local train to Santa Lucia Station? (3)Public water taxi from Santa Lucia to St Marks Square. Quickest option no.82, how long does this take? Thanks in anticipation. Steve
Mestre to St. Lucia is about half an hour. From St. Lucia to St. Marks is about an hour via vaporetti, the public boat. In total, it will take you less than 2 hours to reach to St. Marks from Mestre. Use of water taxi instead of vaporetti will definitely save you some time.

1) is ok 2) the 10:13 Eurostar city train goes at Venezia santa lucia (arrives at 11:40), No need to change 3) the #82 is now rename #2 line (we are talking of water buses, or vaporetti, not of private water taxis, of course). It takes around 30 minutes to St.Mark Vallaresso stop A different option could be (not every day) a direct bus to Venezia Piazzale Roma ( Malcesine Transportation Tips by effeti ) and then again the #2 vaporetto. 2 venice mestre to Santa Lucia station is maybe 5 minutes. there is a vaporetto (public water bus) stop right outside Santa Lucia station - you can buy your ticket there maybe half an hour to st marks - maybe a bit less you could walk it in half an hour - if you didn't get lost - there are plenty of signs so you shouldn't get lost

2 Venice Mestre to Venice SL takes around 10 minutes by train: ferroviedellostato.it/homepa... There are also frequent buses taking aorund the same length of time, from outside Mestre station to Piazzale Roma in Venice (where land traffic stops and water-buses depart). 3 Agree about walking to San Marco rather than taking a vaporetto (not cheap at 6.50 euro for one hour). Walking probably won't take much longer than the vaporetto, which will have several stops on the way. Water-taxis are not the same as vaporetto (which are water-buses): water-taxis are for one person or a small group and very expensive. actv.it/english/navigazione.... It is indeed easy to find the way. Venice is a small city, and very walkable. It took me about 20/25 minutes.
