and approximately how will it take to get there? Is there an interesting halfway point and recommended hotel? Will arrive at the airport about 3PM. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!!!!!!
Hello, First of all, why would you want to go to Mersing? The monsoon's coming and almost everything east gets wet, including the islands. I think you can arrange a cab ride that could actually bring you straight to Mersing but I doubt there's hope. What you could do is take the Airport-City bus to town(JB), hope onto another bus/cab and head to LArkin Bus Terminal. There are 2 operators - if I remember correctly - plying the JB-Mersing route and time slots are 1 in the morning and 1 late afternoon. I think the best halfway point is JB. The hotels are cheap and food easily available. Hope this helps!

thanks for the monsoon warning; should I go a beach area on the west side of the peninsula? I will there at Christmastime. I have never been there so just been reading up about various destinations, any intinerary suggestions welcomed

Forget about east coast during Christmas time. It is the monsoon season and all the island resort would be closed until Feb. Go to the west coast instead. Not many choices for west coast. You can visit Pangkor island, Penang island or Langkawi Island.
