Hi guys/gals, I am planning to spend about a week in Malaysia for my honeymoon in the last week of December this year. My plan is to stay at one of the beach resorts in some good place.. but not being able to decide whether to head for Langkawi or Penang or someplace else.. I have five days free for the beach resort(s.. I wouldn't mind trying two of them if they are close by) and then i am headed back to Kuala Lumpur for 30th and 31st to fly back on 1st back to India. I am looking for suggestions for where to go in the first place or should I try two of them? I don't want to exceed the budget also... rooms in the30-70 range max..The beaches should be as clean as possible and not tooooo crowded. Heard Penang offers the chance of visiting some mountains also..sounded quite cool. Obviously I might get bored with just the sea after 2-3 days..probably a mix of variety would be good.. SUGGESTIONS PLS...
although i went to peneng for my honey moon & i loved it,but this was 11 years ago, my friend just returned from Malaysia this summer where she also spent her honeymoon there,she visited both penang and lankawi,she loved lankawi much better,coz simply its not crowded as penang,water much cleaner and clearler ;-) best wishes congrats 4 ur wedding marimar_72

Langkawi is a better place for your honeymoon. The beaches are more natural, pristine and cleaner.

We were on both islands last December, and absolutely loved Langkawi! It was probably our favorite place of our whole 2 month trip. It was so peaceful and relaxing, and the beaches were great! There are some great places to stay on the island as well, and awesome sights! We had originally planned to stay there for 2 nights, but ended up staying for 9. There is a ferry that goes back and forth between the islands, I think it was only like 2 hours or so. Google search it if you want details about it. Have a great Trip!!

Langkawi without a doubt. Get a hotel on the beach near the Go Slow bar, great food and cheap drinks on the beach. Also make a day trip to the Island just off the coast of Langkawi, I forget what is called but it looks like a pregnant women on her back. The locals say a women who visits the islands has a greater chance of conceiving...Happy Honeymoon!

Good luck for your future wedding!! looks like everyone agrees Langkawi is the place!! yes it is truly beautiful we stayed st the Berjaya and if you find this within your budget I think you will be pleased!! The wildlife here is superb! the little chalets nestled within the rainforest you will see monkeys squirrels and hornbilled birds Everyday!!! and it's very tranquil- there is sooo much to see on Langkawi its all within a few hours drive and the beaches are lovely as well -You must see Tanjung Rhu,our fave beach! and take a trip on the boats to see the eagles and mangroves....mmm enjoy your holiday wherever youdecide to go!!!

Have fun! Make sure you go to the Seven Wells, it's worth the hike, just don't feed the monkeys whatever you do!
