I can vouch for Sarawak being a great destination. Check out Bako National Park.

HOW I wish I could go to Sarawak again... It was great! The people were so helpful and friendly! I enjoyed the Sarawak Laksa, the popiah and some seafood at Buntal and also the Tomato mee! Would reccomend Sarawak to any tourist visiting Malaysia. Just hop on an Air Asia flight over (if you're on a budget) or get MAS (which I used). Great place to visit, and the Damai Lagoon was beautiful...

I've heard of Air Asia, is it reliable?

Oh yes! You can say that again zrim... Good that you check out the Bako National Park page. Fyi, all my friends from Western countries, really like the place after visiting this national park and I met a few tourists when I visited there and they told me that they like it too! If you ever come down this way, just don't miss it... :-) Greetz...

Hey you're right, junwen! You pretty much describe Sarawak. ;-) The food here is really good, isn't it? It's reasonably cheap too! Looks like it, you'd tried most of those delicious local food around here. Next time, don't forget to try our famous KOLO MEE. I'm sure you'll like it! ;-)

Oh yes, Air Asia is pretty realiable, eviltooth. Just make sure you're on time, though at times they can be late. ;-)

Air Asia is reliable, great for solo or 2-somes travellers. For families or groups, try MAS as they have better group fares (50% off IF Im not mistaken) to Kuching. Food in Sarawak is great! Although some of my friends did not enjoy it as they were used to the Chinese food in Peninsula Malaysia. It's a little different over there, and it's Cheap!!!Such Value for money. All in all a great experience...wish I could have visited the caves...

junwen: You're right about Air Asia and MAS. Hey, it's a pity that you miss out the caves. It's a pretty interesting climb to the inside of the cave! At least for me it wasn't easy but worth the climb...*g*

hi Xinta I would like to come to Sarawak this year if possible. Could u recommend a place a stay near a national park, away from the main city providing a bit of a getaway and just getting truly into the life of the locals but really in a quiet sense of the word. And cld u recomend a place to stay and explore for 2-4 pple where we have the option to do a few types of activities. We are generally outdoorsy types :) thanks!

Hello Fudge! Sure I can give some tips for you and your outdoorsy friends...*hehe* ;-) Okai, these are the two places I can think of: a) Bako National Park - If you like nature and wildlife, you should be heading off this way. You will be guaranteed to see wildlife in this park. Besides, you can go hiking and swimming, too. If you want to know more, you can check out my Bako Travel Page. b) Telok Melano - It's a home stay programme where you can get to experience the live of the local people. It's a Malay fishing village and you get to live with the Malay families. I have never been there before, but I heard several people telling me it's good. You can go jungle trekking and that they will organise some sort of activities. If you want to go to Telok Melano, there's only one local Travel Agency here who organised such a trip. Let me know if you want to go there. I can check it out for you. :-) If you have any questions, just let me know. Happy travelling! Xinta
