Malapascua beach cottages removal

by frankzorro Online Now Nov 1, 2005 at 2:06 AM

Hi,
I read somewhere that at Malapascua all small buildings near to the sea have to be removed and that some resorts already are doing this...

My concern is that - in the short term - this demolition it isn't a pretty sight and that maybe it isn't that interesting to go there.

Has someone been there very recently? Is it true?

I was there 2 weeks ago. No, they are not doing this yet. It would be nice if they did because some people really built cottages very very near the beach cutting it off. at sunset beach resort they even put a cement dam to prevent their cottages from getting eroded. The result, a beachfront that is only a few meters wide. I would be happy if they do demolish cottages very near the beach. No wide beaches in bounty beach. The beachfront near Exotic is better.

Yes there is demolishing of cottages in action.
    Monte Luna is demolished
Cocobana demolished already 3 cottages, others follow.
Loida/Hippocampus demolished their concrete post on the beach
    White sand will totally dissappear
Tropical has to remove both cottages
Blue Water has to demolish the resturant, they already build a new in the backside.
Dano has to demolish also some of their cottages
    same like Sunrise.

Maldito makes a new construction, leaving place for a beach salvage zone.
    Rex Sports Bar is demolished.
La Dolce Vita has to demolish the Terrace.

Their is a lot of demolishing in action, and will continue in future.
We are glad about this demolishing, cause lot of beach was lost, one couldnt even walk the beach cause of buildings without permit!

I feel sorry for people who invested money to build there (and were given permission to do so) only for their establishments to be razed to the ground.
