I will be in Mainz for a birthday in early April and want to go to a couple of nice authentic German food places for lunch on the Sunday and Monday before flying back to England from Hahn. I have a car and am looking for somewhere up to 45 minutes outside Mainz city preferably an old inn or something like that. Any foodies out there with appetising ideas?
Near Eltville, only around 30 km from Mainz, there is a beautiful medieval monastery called Eberbach. You'll also find a restaurant on site. For more info: klostereberbach.com/docs/int... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eberba... You could combine a lunch with some sight seeing. :)
