I am writing about Magdeburg, Germany, in the mid-19th century. I would like to know what the city gates looked like. I know there are Magdeburg Gates in Moscow from the 11th or 12th century that have particular icons on it, though I've never seen a photo. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

These gates are in Velikiy Novgorod. When I was there I took a pic of them, so you can see the pic of the gates and bit of their history on my Vel. Novgorod page.
