I am an upcoming Junior in highschool and play water polo over the summer every day. I was thinking about going on an exchange over the summer to Madrid for about 3-4 weeks and if I were to go I would need to join a swim or water polo team. Are there any clubs that I could possibly join while I am there? Let me know, thanks.
I arrive in Madrid on the AVE from Malaga. From what platform do I catch the train from Madrid Atocha train station to Guadalajara?
Can someone please let me know the date of the Madrid running of the bulls this year 2013 / or a website how to find information?
I know the main one is Pamplona in July, but I heard there was smaller version near Madrid in August, but cant find the exact date. Also for La Tomatina, is it better to stay in Valencia or Bunol? I assume the trains run all day and night so its easy enough to travel to Bunol.
Thanks guys!
I have been wondering, what is the easiest way to get from Barajas airport to Paseo Florida / Principe Pio Train Station? By train or metro?

Hi VT'ers!
Needing a somewhat "low cost" option for my holidays this year, I've chosen Madrid! Living in Portugal, it's a cheap air ticket :)
I'll be there for 4 nights, and I'm starting my quest to find a confortable place to sleep.
Have you already used some web site to rent an apartment in Madrid? Googling it, there are many web sites, but i'de like to start (and stick) to the ones people already used and had a good experience.
Thank you in advance!

Greetings from the USA, My wife and I have made arrangements to rent the apartment from our last post for our vacation in Madrid .... (info below) We would like to meet up with some local VTer's while we are there, and hope that there will be some available. (Sept. 2nd - Sept. 12th) Like we have done in other countries, we can meet for lunch or dinner at a place where the locals gather, not a tourist place, or if someone has a little free time, maybe show us around a little. If you are interested, please send us an e-mail thru VT e-mail .... **** The Apartment We Rented **** RENTAL COMPANY: "SpainSelect" The apartment address is: Calle Anunciacion #4 - Madrid Area: RETIRO Metro Stops: Conde de Casal and Sainz de Baranda The apartment information is at: spain-select.com/en_US/rent-... We really appreciate all of the information that other VTer's have provided us about Madrid .... Happy Travels, Al and Mary / USA
Greetings from the USA, The apartment we listed in our last post is no longer available .... We booked it, but were bumped, because they have someone that want sit for the month of September. They offered to move us to another apartment, but would not provide information as to where until we get there. We will not deal with a company that cannot be upfront about where we would be moved to instead. We feel it could be anywhere they have an apartment available at the time we arrive. We want to know ahead of time what we are getting. We found another company (recommended by a VT member) that has a nice apartment available that they will guarantee we will be getting. Our stay in Madrid will be from September 2nd thru September 12th, then we move on to the Netherlands for our yearly visit to our friends for 3 weeks. RENTAL COMPANY: "SpainSelect" The apartment address is: Calle Anunciacion #4 - Madrid Area: RETIRO Metro Stops: Conde de Casal and Sainz de Baranda The apartment information is at: spain-select.com/en_US/rent-... We would appreciate information about the area .... Thank you for any assistance you may give us, it is appreciated Happy Travels, Al and Mary / USA
Hi to everyone! I'm really upset because I'm trying to find a last minute accomodation for me and my friends fot New Eve, and I'm not able to find anything free! Can anyone give me a hand? Thanks!!
HI and Thanks Bos to Madrid 6:20 Sun arrival. Can I check into a Hotel that early?
Greetings from the USA, My wife and I have pretty much made our selection for an apartment we would like to rent for our stay in Madrid this coming September for 11 days. Before we finalize the rental agreement, we would appreciate some input from those who are familiar with the area that the apartment is located. Location: Chamberi Area (Madrid City) Address: 38 Espronceda Street Next to: Paseo de la Castellana Metro: Gregorio Maranon Station holidaylettings.co.uk/rental... Holiday Lettings is a Trip Advisor owned company, so we feel pretty good about dealing with them for our apartment and not a total stranger. We really don't mind walking or using the bus or metro to see the sights. We would also appreciate some suggestions for day trips that we could take while we are there. Any information would be appreciated and helpful .... Happy Travels Mary and Al / USA
I have a god-awful 18-hour layover in Madrid, from 5:00 pm to 11:00 AM, so have decided to just go into the city and walk around the city, have dinner and stay in a cheap hotel. I liked the one I stayed in 5 years ago right off Plaza Major, but came in with a couple of other people in a cab. What's the cheapest and fastest way to do the transfer alone? I'll only have a carry-on so don't have to worry about luggage.
Greetings from the USA, We have narrowed down our choices on selecting an apartment for our stay in Madrid this coming September (2nd - 13th) .... We did search the internet for something nice, and we found a site that is called "Holiday Lettings" which is owned by Travelocity. The selection they have is great, and the apartments are nice. There are some good deals on apartments of all sizes, and we are not really concerned if an apartment is a 2 - 3 or 4 bedroom one. The real nice apartments have 2 or more bedrooms, and yet the prices are well within our budget. I guess that you could say we look for little luxury when we travel .... Here is a list of the apartments we like: Property 1: Retiro - Salamanca Area holidaylettings.co.uk/rental... Property 2: Retiro Area holidaylettings.co.uk/rental... Property 3: Gran Via Area holidaylettings.co.uk/rental... Property 4: Chamberi Area holidaylettings.co.uk/rental... Property 5: Gran Via Area holidaylettings.co.uk/rental... Property 6: Historical Center Area holidaylettings.co.uk/rental... MY WIFE AND I ARE LEANING TOWARD: #4 or #6 We would greatly appreciate any input on helping us select our apartment by letting us know what the areas are like where the apartments are located. As always we have taken the advice offered in these forums when we travel overseas, because we get honest answers and opinions here on Virtual Tourist when we ask questions we need answers to. We have been members since 2003, and are very glad we joined .... We look forward to your advice opinions Happy Travels, Al and Mary / USA
We would like to thank those who have replied to our questions about Madrid. We have never been there and we will be spending 11 days there this coming September before we move on to the Netherlands to visit friends for 10 days, and then to London for 5 days before returning home. It seems that most all apartments are "very" reasonable in Madrid compared to decent hotel prices, and sometimes you get a good deal on a larger apartment if rentals are slow. We like our apartments when we travel, because it is like we are at home. they offer things we cannot get in any hotel: Bedroom Living room Dining area Full kitchen WiFi or at least internet connection Most of all ..... we always get an apartment with at least a washing machine. Since we are usually gone for almost a month, we can always wash our clothes, meaning less we have to pack. I think we have our apartment selection narrowed down to 4 apartments. I will post the location of each, and hopefully we will be advised on which would be our best bet in terms of a safe area, and area were the metro or bus is close, and an area close to supermarkets for our food. We are in our 60's and walk as much as we can, but we also do need the metro or bus from time to time. Any help and advice is greatly appreciated .... Happy Travels, Al and Mary / USA
