Running of the bulls - Madrid and La Tomatina

by mavis77 Online Now Mar 13, 2013 at 6:11 PM

Can someone please let me know the date of the Madrid running of the bulls this year 2013 / or a website how to find information?
I know the main one is Pamplona in July, but I heard there was smaller version near Madrid in August, but cant find the exact date. Also for La Tomatina, is it better to stay in Valencia or Bunol? I assume the trains run all day and night so its easy enough to travel to Bunol.
Thanks guys!

    festivaladventures.com/madri...

This site implies that the tomatina is 28th august and the San Sebastian bull run is 26th to 30th august. Start getting in shape for your run!!!

Madrid : every Sunday from march to end October. . . .
Check this Spanish website, it says everything about Las Ventas arena : http://www.las-ventas.com/faq.asp
During San Isidro festival (10th-19th of may, this year): every day!
Other festivals (several corridas a week) between August 15th and mid October.
    Check here: whatmadrid.com/bullfights.ht...

Bullfights, tomatina. . . it seems you like the red colours. . . . :-)
Tomatina: best would be to stay in Bunol, but it may not be possible; reserve in advance in Valencia.

The place near Madrid where there is an smaller versio of running of the bulls is San Sebastían de los Reyes. The event starts at the end of august. More info can be found in the official website: sansencierros.org/encierros-...

La Tomatina is on 28 August this year and for the first time it is by ticket only.
The entry tax, as it is being termed, is 10€ and will be limited to 20,000. Only 15,000 of which will be available to the general public.(So, a less than a third of the crowd of previous years) The rest are being reserved for locals of the town. Booking is online and then involves bringing a low-cost airline-style ticket printed on your computer with you on the morning of the fight, along with your passport, to exchange for an entry wristband. Could be a shambles - and carrying a passport into the fight is dangerous. Better to join an organised tour making sure they already have entry tickets and can give you the wristbands before the day. Do it soon as tickets are sure to go fast.
Make sure you give yourself time in the city of Valencia, to experience its architecture, food and great beaches.
