I'm planing going to Madeira at the end of october. I don't like driving, but I'd like to visit the most beautiful and interesting places there. Are there buses from Funchal to this places? Are the taxis very expensive? Thanks.
hellooo, Communication around the Funchal are well-developed. Using the city-buses you can get to Monte, botanical garden, Curral, Camara dos Lobos, airport, etc. Unfortunately there is a big challange to go to the remote destinations. For example there are only 3 or 4 buses daily to Porto Moniz or Sao Vicente (north coast) and their timetables not especially fulfill tourist needs (I think about hours of arrivals and - becouse of mountain roads - long time of travelling). So - for longer expeditions - the best way is - unfortunately for you :) - to rent a car. greetings, pikuu
