Hiking Permits

Hi, I had a question regarding hiking permits. I read that hiking permits and guides are necessary. But we are planning to go there in september and we realise that there is no permits available for that time. Are there any trails which we can take on our two-day stay in Machu Picchu, without the permits & guides. Thanks in advance..
