Hi snuggie. Its easy to take a day trip to Macau. Just take the MTR Island Line (blue) to Sheung Wan and look for exit D which will take you to the Shun Tak Centre where the Turbojet departs from. www.turbojet.com lists the departure schedules each way. Remember to take your passport as there will be an immigration counter at the terminal in Macau. If you are interested in visiting the various casinos (The Venetian is worth seeing) you can get a free shuttle bus from outside the terminal. Otherwise the old town centre can be reached by taxi (10 minutes) or bus. My memory is scratchy but I think I took the number 10 bus. Maybe another VT can confirm this. By the way if shopping is your thing I did find the prices cheaper in Macau than in HK.

I've been in Macao with a daytrip from HK, too. In March. If you stay in Tsim Sha Tsui (TST)area you can take ferry at CHINA FERRY HARBOUR (close to Kowloon PARK) nwff.com.hk/eng/fare_table/l... take with you a jacket for air conditioning inside ferry! in MAcao I suggest you to avoid Casino area if not interested to have a tour inside one of this building and go in the historical part (if I well remember with bus 12) and walk around. For lunch I can suggest you restaurant: A Lorcha (at lunch time the close around 15 o'clock if I'mk not wrong) close to a nice TEmple. I had a great codfish with potatos, there! :-) Hong kong is very safe at every time in the day and in the night but also in Macao i didn't feel unsafe. hope you wil enjoy these places as me and in HK in cannot miss : Big Buddha in LAndau island and TAI O (fisherman village). But go there at the sunset (after Buddha temple closed, when tourist go away and locals live their simple life-in an middle age man will start to speak with you, don't be afraid...he will guide you around...of course at the end he will ofer you to buy simple thing but with him you can feel the place in a different place and it worth the few HK dollars you will pay his objects). you can go ther with Ferry from HK island and then take bus , but also you can go and come back to HONG KONG using a bus from TAI O to Tung Chung metro station. another thing i really reccomend you is to sen a night at horserace (wednesday usually) at Happyvalley (HK island)...so amazing atmosphere and incredible skyscrapes scenary...one of the most beautiful memoris in HK :-) Have a nice time there! I enjoyed a day in Macau last month - best was watching people Bungy from the tower! I joined a day tour which included a good selection of sights including the museum, the tower, the famous cathedral facade, lunch and return ferry ticket. You must have your passport and you may need a visa - as an Australian I didn't.

You can take the ferry from the China Ferry Terminal in Tsim sha Tsui on the Kowloon Side or from the Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island - take MTR underground to Sheung Wan Station and follow signs for Macau Ferry Terminal Exit. You should not have problems going around Macau alone during the day time. Visit some of the historical sights like the church of St Paul's which is now just a facade, the main square Largo De Senado, the A Ma Temple dedicated to the goddess of the sea Tin Hau. There are lots of museums - history, wine, the grand prix. If you intend to visit several get a museum pass. There are several new hotels in Macau such as the Venetian which you might want to have a look at, too. Macau is well known for good food, too.
