Are there any interesting places to visit or things to do within walking distance (say 1-1.5 KM) of Quai Claude Bernard where my ship will be docked during the day?
Hello Lyon Forum, We're looking for a restaurant that is opened on Sunday night, which serves French food. It does NOT have to be a Michelin star restaurant. Thank you for your help.

I am staying very close to the Debourg stop for the metro system and need to get to the Lyon Perrache departure station to catch the TGV. I was hoping anyone could tell me the easiest way to get there and approximately how long it takes. Also do I need to get to the station early for check in like you do at the airport. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated too. Thanks!
Where is the best place in Lyon to see the New Year in? Searching the most obvious websites doesn't seem to throw up much. I thought that there would be an obvious focal point. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
We are doing a rather epic train trip round europe. We'll be doing a lot of pincincing onboard, and so a lot of the remaining planning is al about working out what to put in the picnic hamper at each of our rapid stops. Alas, super stinky cheese isnt something that goes down very well on posh TGVs, or any train really, so we'd have to eat anything like that almost at point of purchase. Any suggestions for cheese strong enough to scare off a tribe of Stilton eating englishmen would be most appreciated. Les Halles is purpose built for our requiremtns, We have 3 1/2 hours in Lyon (11:30 to 15:00) and it's walking distance from Part Dieu. If you are a Lyonnaise, either in spirit or literally, and have any recommendations for what to stick in a picnic hamper, or a particular shop in Les Halles you adore, please let me know and I'll jot it down on our blogs food pages. There will be 13 of us, so we can handle about 2.5 Kgs of cheeses, and about 2kg of meats, several of these terrines, (including one veggie) plus loads of breads and some deserts, and some fruit etc. We'll also need quite a bit of Rhone wine.... We'll be going to Limoges when we leave, in order to pick up the sleeper to Barcelona. We've got a budget of £30 a picnic per person, so pushing 500 euros not including drinks, and Lyon is worth pushing the boat out for so we could extend the budget for this stop.
Hi, I am traveling from Torino and my train reaches Lyon at 11:30 in the night. Next morning I have a train at 6:15. The gap is very small and booking a hotel doesn't seem the right thing. Earlier I thought that I can spend the night in waiting area of the station. However, I suspect that since there are rarely in night trains in France, the station might be closed after midnight. In that case I will have nowhere to go unless I am ready to shell out a decent amount for a hotel room. Does anyone has any idea as to what I can do to spend my time. Thanks
Hi, I'm getting the train in from Geneva then i have to get another train 45minutes later from Lyon Perrache and was wondering what was the best way of getting from 1 station to another quickly. Thanks
We're trying to find a map of the bus routes in Lyon but haven't been successful. Any suggestions or links to website? Thanks much!

Hi! I'm having trouble finding up-to-date information on how to get from Perrache (where we depart from our TGV ride) to Lyon airport where we are to pick up our hired car. Any help, including options and prices, would much be appreciated! Thankyou in advance.
I know that these are 3 very different cities/towns--all 3 with wonderful reviews, but can only choose 1 for an upcoming stay. We would stay 2-3 days, in the summer. I'm looking for a city with quaint squares, an old city section with narrow streets, history, locals; a place that is special and memorable, but not a "tourist trap". Each of these 3 places sounds wonderful but we've never been to any of them, so we really don't have a basis for making a decision. Cost would be taken into consideration--if the prices of meals anywhere in the city are exorbitant, that might be a deal-breaker.
I am taking a 24 hour stopover in Lyon, staying at the Radisson. I want to eat the best food, in a non tourist typically Lyon style eatery, drink the best red wine, visit the old, non tourist places so as you can see I am really in need of your honest opinions as I want to savour every second before taking my early morning flight to London. Any tips on getting to the airport from the Radisson also greatfully recieved.
hello, there are 5 of us traveling from california, us. taking train from gare de lyon in paris and need to take train to gare de lyon-perrache when trying to book it it only gives us gare de lyon part deu. do we have to take another train to get there?..
I am flying into Lyon from Sardenga on EasyJet and will arrive at 10:20. I see there is a direct train from the airport to Arles at 11:40. Is it reasonable to take that train or is it too short of time to de-plane, pick up checked luggage and get to the station/track? I could buy the ticket online so I don't have to buy the ticket when I get in. The trains after 11:40 are very long. The next alternative is to take Air France flight of 1 hour at 3:40. At this time it is 50 euro more but is almost the same as taking the long train trip if I miss the 11:40 train. Thank you for your advice
will be in lyon for one week any suggestions on day trips?
We are going to take a Rhone-Saone river cruise with stops in Lyon, Macon, Chalon sur Saone, Avignon and Arles inthe emd of March. Travel agency offers guided tours, but they are pretty expensive. Can anybody suggest – where we can walk ourselves without missing something interesting? Our French is limited, we speak English and Russian. Thank you!
Hello I would like to get some information about a good place to eat a breakfast in Lyon, near the 'Park and Suites Lyon Part Dieu' hotel (111 boulevard Vievier Merle). And also, if someone knows a good restaurant (lunch & dinner) nearby! Thanks a lot!
Hi friends: I'm trying to know how to go from Lyon to Pérouges, but I can't find the appropriate info. It's seems to be by bus number 132, but my questions, are: - In Lyon, the website says "Lyon Guillotière", where is it? (street, metro...) - I suppose the stop in Pérouges is "Pérouges bifurcation", am I right?, and from there, how long does the walk take to the old city? All additional info will be very much appreciate. Santi
Hi friends: I've heard that Satobus (the bus) doesn't go to Perrache station from the airport. Could you tell me please how to get there (by public transportation)?
I will be spending a week in Lyon next October. When I visit a new city I like to have an apartment in a location that is not too touristy - but it needs to be safe, accessible to train/ bus, with a friendly local cafe and restaurant culture, and within walking distance of a good food market. Which arondissements should I be looking in?
I am due to visit Lyon in March 2011 and would like to hear from anyone that has stayed in a popular but reasonable hotel near to the centre of Lyon. Also moving on to Chamonix so if you know of the same type of hotel in that area please also advise
TGV does not allow me to choose the airport station (Saint-Exupery) as my departing point when I try to fill in the form for online tickets. The choices I have are all departing from perrache or part dieu. How should I proceed at this point? Are all trains passing through all the stations? I am also given only departure times from the two stations above, not from the airport station..What would be the schedule for the airport station, in this case..Merci beaucoup pour les reponses...koray
I need to know the timetable of the service at Sunday. Kind Regqrds Pasmour
Are there local evening trains from the Lyon Part Dieu train station to the Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport? RailEurope lists trains only until 5:48. If there isn't train service, what's the best way to get between the two places, including Sundays?
