Getting to Lviv from Rzeszow and from Lviv to Warszawa

by ronaldpk Online Now Feb 9, 2010 at 1:30 PM

What is the easiest way to get from Rzeszow to Lviv - taking a bus to Przemysl and then crossing the border on foot and taking a marshrutka? What about the inward journey - is there a night train from Lviv to Warszawa? I will be travelling to Lviv on 16th April and returning to Poland on 18th in the evening.

If you go through any part of Russia the enclave of Kaliningrad . You need a visa which can be very laborious to get . I am not sure of my directions but If this is needed make sure that you get it before you go as there sre three pages of forms to fill in in triplicate. Rob

      VT Meeting 1-2 June 2010

by matcrazy1 Online Now Jan 23, 2010 at 5:18 PM

      1. Please share your information on VT-meet posted by me on 1-2 June 2010 - just after Euromeet in Krakow (transportation, accommodations): meetings.virtualtourist.com/... 2. What would you like to see/do in Lviv? My suggestion is a walk (1 day) around the Old Town with a lunch somewhere there on the way and on the second day depends on weather (hopefully sunny) a trip (by taxis?) to Lviv High Castle, Schevchenko Forest (wooden, old cottages) and Lychakiv Cemetery. Please, download Lviv in your Pocket, to get to know more, from here: inyourpocket.com/static/down... Hugs, Matt.

Or would it be better to hire a driver and go by car? What should I expect to pay? I would appreciate any advice you can give me. Sincerely, Robert Filmore (New York, USA)

Hello everybody! I'll reach Przemysl from Krakow around 8 PM on June O9. Can I reasonably reach Lvov that evening. First are marshrutki from the railway station to the border sill running after 8 PM? Second can I catch a marshrutka or a bus to Lvov at 10 PM if everything goes fine at the border? If not what would be the price for a taxi or private car? Lots of thanks Mitia

    • Krakov - Lviv and back to Krakov

by MikeFaulkner Online Now Oct 2, 2008 at 2:01 PM

Hi, I am totally new to travel so please forgive if i ask a silly question. I will be travelling to Lviv at the end of October 2008. I will fly to Krakov airport, my flight arrives at 10am. I need a relaible method of getting to Lviv, i know there is a train that night, but was rather hoping to arrive in Lviv earlier than that. I also neet to be back at Krakov Airport by 8am on 2nd November 2008, so am looking for relaible transport back as well. I rather like the idea of crossing the Polish/Ukranian border on foot, so am not adverse to using buses/minibuses, but i do not speak or read Ukranian very well, so am looking for some serious help here. I have seen answers to this question, but they seem to be several years out of date, so up to date information would be good. Many Thanks Mike

Lviv to Krakow - Advice needed

by mingul Online Now Apr 3, 2008 at 2:36 AM

Hello to all of you. I am planning a trip to Lviv in a few weeks time by car from the North of Romania. I have been considering lately to go for two days also in Krakow, Poland. I need a bit of inside information about which is the best way to do this. Is it advisable to drive from Lviv to Krakow? Is it a bad road? Are the customs extremely congested? Has any of you ever driven there? How much time did it take? Would it be better to leave my car at my hotel in Lviv and take a bus/train from there? Thanks in advance, Mihnea mihnel@yahoo.com

I've been given postcards that my Dad wrote in 1942, whilst in a German prison, to his family who lived in Stryj. The address given is ul Prywytna/Przywytna??. My family were forced to leave Stryj around this time, so I have no further information. Would street names have changed, once the country became part of the Ukraine?

I am looking for a way to get from Krakow airport to either Przemysl or Medycina (spelling?), the walkover border crossing point between Poland and Ukraine. I am looking to avoid going into the city of Krakow and hope to find a direct transfer by bus (coach) or minibus service from the airport. Private car drivers are quoting fees of between US$400-525. The intended travel days are between 23-25 April. Any suggestions would be very helpful!

    • Best train connections for traveling from Berlin to Lviv (Lemberg) via Germany, Austria, Hungary?

by maren.listserve Online Now Feb 18, 2008 at 4:02 PM

Hi, My boyfriend and I are flying from NYC to Berlin in August and plan to visit Germany, Austria, and Hungary on the way to a wedding in Lviv (Ukraine) using the Eurail select pass for three adjoining countries. We'll need to get back to Berlin to catch our flight back to the US a few days after the wedding. Can anybody give us advice on the best train routes by train, including sleepers? I've looked at some blogs on the web but they appear a few years old and not sure if things have changed since. Another thing is that my boyfriend is Mexican and I don't know if that would increase time spent with border controls on certain train connections. I'm German and both of us have valid passports and US work visas, but some blogs sounded a little scary with regard to border control delays.... We're not so keen on traveling via Poland or Czech Republic as those countries wouldn't be covered by our Eurail pass - we would need to buy separate ones for Eastern Europe and Germany (single country) pass, which is rather expensive. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance, Maren

Retro Hostel Shevchenko? Safe or unsafe? Mixed reviews

by littleladybug333 Online Now Jan 20, 2008 at 10:07 PM

I just booked a room for 4 nights at Retro Hostel Shevchenko. The most recent reviews were good, so I figured it would be fine. And then, for some reason, I began to feel nervous, so I checked sites other than Hostelworld for reviews and found some REALLY BAD reviews and people reporting scary stuff happening at this hostel. The question is, is this hostel ok (is the hostel unsafe)? Is it really awful? Any advice/alternate suggestions?
