Time to prepare my shopping list for Lviv! I have adopted the habit to bring some music CDs from my travels - some folk music but mainly contemporary rock/pop/jazz music sung in the local language. However, shopping for music means you have to know which names of bands and singers to look for. I usually prepare with the help of Youtube and make a list of those whose music I like, but that also requires knowing some names to start with. So - I hope for some recommendations of good bands and singers from Ukraine. Please let me know your favourites. My musical taste: rock ballads, 'soft' jazz, melodic pop. No techno, no hip-hop, no heavy metal. I prefer singers, no matter if male or female, who have strong voices and a good singing technique - I dislike girly whispers and half-spoken 'singing'. Question 2: Where can I find a well-assorted CD shop in Lviv?
Last summer I found a little music store located opposite to Grand Hotel. Matt.

If you check in this link Lviv Restaurant Tips by HORSCHECK The CD shop where I shopped was in the same street as the Bistro Pizza Jazz. Coming from the center it was a bit further towards the cemetery on the left side. I know it's pretty vague but that's the only one I remember in Lviv.

Wow!!! Plach Yeremiyi are really really good. I like their style. Shame I am not going to Lviv. (Is anybody taking wish lists...? LOL)

I would also suggest TNMK (Tanok na Maidani Kongo) youtube.com/watch?v=60_pdra8..., youtube.com/watch?v=UTm8PTfI... Boombox (youtube.com/watch?v=5MBkfaAQ... Krykhitka Tsakhes (youtube.com/watch?v=gS9f1xpk... it's not exactly rock ballads, 'soft' jazz, melodic pop but I suggest you listen to it and make your judgement ;) i think some of them you can find in Lviv in kryharnya Yi (Prospekt Svobody 7)
