Subject to contract finalisation I will be moving to ZJG in Jan 2014 and will start looking for an apartment to rent. Can anyone currently living in ZJG give me an idea of which area(s) are best to live in? I'm looking for about 120sqm to 140sqm, preferably modern interior and quiet.
Has anyone been to this bridge? I was there a few years back and after going through the tunnel and over the bridge and out the other side, you reach a plateau you can stand/sit on and have a break. If you look out over the way in THAT direction (can't recall which way it was, just new it was directly opposite from the bridge) you can see a rock formation in the shape of either a Canadian Inukshuk or a Chinese Gate. Does anyone have any info on what this is or who built it or when? It was there in 2009, my first trip, and I think it's still there, according to some shots I've seen on the web.

The cost is around 600 rmb for the day.
My parents decide to sell the house in Guangdong China and ask me to help them move the antique furniture left by my great grandmother to the US. The furniture is more for sentimental value. I asked container companies to help but they said the chinese customs won't allow this due to the fact that they are antiques. I was told that antique dealers in China who exports to the US will be able to help. How can I find a dependable antique dealer?
For university I am allowed to go on a short trip to Beijing from the 6th to the 14th of December. Are there any interesting educational experiences I could have? I am open to anything realy.
There is one limit though. I am only allowed to go in order to visit a one-time opportunity. For example a museum is not allowed, but a speech is.
It could be about anything. IT would be preferable, but social issues or science would be great too.
Does anybody know whether there is an upcoming event I should visit? I would greatly appreciate your help!

Are visits to stores and factories mandatory on every tourist trip to China? I have been told that all group tours and even privately guided tours throughout China must stop at various shops and factories. Is this true? Can it be avoided?

A friend has suggested we might want to check out the Shaolin Temple after we visit the Longmen Buddhas in the morning. Is there a bus service to the Temple or should we take a cab. After we visit the temple, is there a bus service back to the train station. If there is a bus service from or to these places, what is the cost and more importantly, what is the frequency of service. We`ll be there on a Friday. Thanks!
In September 2009, we are planning to take an overnight train from Beijing to Zhengzhou and then transfer to Luoyang train around 5am. Once we get to Luoyang, how do we get to the Longmen Buddha Caves? I need a bus or taxi (cost?) early enough in the morning to beat any tourist buses. I also heard there may be boats to hire? Once we have finished our tour there, we intend to get back on the train (same day) and head back to Zhengzhou, and hope to catch the evening/overnight train to Guilin. Does this sound possible? I'm worried that I won't be able to buy the tickets since I don't believe you can reserve these things or buy online beforehand. We definitely would like the soft sleeper. Or is there a reservation service online for advance tickets? Thanks!
