    • Booking a vacation rental

      Interlaken Yesterday

      HI,
We are planning book an vacation rental in interlaken. we choosed the apartment from the below site
      interlaken.ch/en/region-reso...
This is the first time we are booknig from the owner directly instead of using regular booking sites like booking.com.
These vacation rentals are not found in regular booking sites. We not sure if this is a common practice in swizterland.
Is it safe to transfer the money directly to owners account ?

      Thanks in advance

      Cheapest train fares in Switzerland

      Mürren May 30, 2013 at 10:53 PM

My family and I (two adults and one 5-year old child) are planning a long weekend in the summer in Switzerland. We will be flying into Geneva, spending one night in Bern, and then two nights in Murren in the Bernese Oberland, before departing from Geneva again. I can't figure out the cheapest rail options for this itinerary (Geneva Airport-Bern-Murren return) - there seems to be a plethora of rather confusing half-fare travelcards and inter-regional travelcards! Can anyone help? Thank you.

      Basel to Geneva - enroute

      Switzerland Jun 9, 2013 at 3:28 AM

I with my wife and 2 kids have planned trip from London to Basel, switzerland in August. We then wanted to rent a car and follow the below itinerary
Day 1 - enter a small German town to visit then proceed to Zurich to have night stay
Day 2,3 - night stays at Lauterbrunnen and visit core places
Day 4 - stay at monteaux before proceeding to Geneva to board the flight back

      My queries are:
      a) Are there are any precautions required for the road travel in Switzerland and Germany
      b) I see speed limit at many places like 60 kms in 1 hour travel from google maps. Is the road travel slow because of hilly roads or small towns with restricted speed limits
      c) We have already booked entering into Basel and exiting from Geneva, how does this itinerary sounds and any suggestions within them
      d) We still will be using public transport to places like jungfrau, so please suggest places that we can go using public transport rather than in car wherever it will be tedious
      e) How about the availability of gas stations, rest areas and pharmacies/medical facilities (for emergencies)

I will come up with more questions as we near our travel.

      24 hours in Zurich

      Zürich Jun 9, 2013 at 6:53 AM

      Hi guys,

I'll be spending about 24 hours in Zurich prior to my return flight at night (late Oct) and am hoping to visit the following places. Appreciate your advise on the jam packed itinerary. I will be arriving in Zurich by train around 5pm and will be staying at the Youth Hostel. My flight on the following night is at 10pm.

I'm hoping to visit the following attractions:
      - Old Town (Altstadt)
      - Church of Our Lady (Fraumunster)
      - Great Church (Grossmunster)
      - Lindenhofplatz
      - Uetliberg
      - Lake Zurich

I initially planned to leave my luggage at Zurich HB train station prior to exploring. Just wondering how close these places are and if I'm able to be back by 6pm to the train station to make my way to the airport.

      Thanks guys!

    • Hotel with parking

      Hi,

We plan to stay in Lucerne for only one night, but we'll have a car and most hotel I've looked at (3 to 4 star) say parking is available nearby for a surcharge, or at a nearby public parking place. Can anyone suggest a nice (charming?) hotel, not necessarily in the middle of the city, where we can park without having to pay?

      Thank you very much.

      RE: Stanserhorn, Titlis Transportation Museum

by aodreen Online Now Dec 2, 2012 at 7:20 AM

Hi All, Is anyone can help to provide some info on Stanserhorn, Titlis & Transportation Museum? a) Open Air Cable Car to the Stanserhorn. I've browsed through the website, the fares as below. May I know what is the difference between the 1st & 2nd options? Both also back to Stans. Is the 4th option including return ticket to Stans? 1) Stans-Stanserhorn Adults (Swiss Pass) CHF 34.00 (return) 2) Round trip Stans-Stanserhorn-Wirzweli-Dallenwil-Stans Adults (Swiss Pass) CHF 23.40 3) Round trip Stans-Stanserhorn-Wiesenberg-Dallenwil-Stans Adults (Swiss Pass) CHF 25.00 4) Good morning ticket (departure: 8.15am / 9.15am) Adults (Swiss Pass) CHF 29.00 b) Titlis I would like to hike for 1 section from Trubsee station. Would like to confirm the correct route. Is it from Engelberg & get off Trubsee station, then I’ll need to hike up until Titlis or to Jochpass & hop in the cable car from Jochpass to Titlis? If this included into the Engelberg to Titlis route? And how long will it take to hike up until the next station to catch up the next cable car to Titlis? c) Transportation Museum Lucerne, is this museum covered free with Swiss Pass. I know Swiss Pass got provide free entry for museum but not sure is it applies the same for Transportation Museum Lucerne. Thanks a lot. Have a nice day. Regards, Aodreen

      cog railway end of april

by lowsun Online Now Apr 25, 2012 at 6:06 AM

Hello, I'm planning a day trip in Lucerne & Pilatus Kulm. I checked the website but information is a bit strange regarding the cog railway. Since I'm going there on Saturday, end of April, is it possible to take the cog railway to Pilatus? Or it's closed? I read lots of post on the internet and I understand that summer season beggins in May and winter season ends in March. So it leaves April in what season? :) I know the other options to go up there, but I'd preffer the cog railway.

by sandyarsenal Online Now Feb 22, 2012 at 2:37 AM

Guys, I amm planning a trip to swiss for around nine days. I am getting in at Zurich and then making my way to Geneva from there. In between I will visit, Lucerne, Interlaken and Berne. My question revolves the two days I plan to be in lucerne. I have reserved one day for Mount Titlis and the next day for Mount Pilatus. There are plenty of trips available on the internet and most of them are expensive. I don't mind shelling that kind of money, but of course the preference is to save and also if possible to travel on my own, rather than be bound to any travel services. Q1) How do I get to Mount Titlis from Lucerne. Can some one please break up the stages of journey and also tell me the approximate cost for each journey? Q2) How do I get to Mount Pilatus from Lucerne. Can some one please break up the stages of journey and also tell me the approximate cost for each journey? Really appreciate any help you can provide in this matter. Regards, Sandey

how to travel from Hotel radisson Blu, Lucern to Verkehrshaus der Schweiz (Swiss Transport Museum) I have read some where that if we do have a swiss pass, our entrance fee is halved is it so? Swiss Museum of Transport and Communication, 3D Film theater, Planetarium, Hans Erni Museum are all these inside this Swiss transport museum.
