We are staying in a villa in Gragnano and planning to take the train to Lucca or Pescia and then the bus. Can anyone give me info about the bus route between Lucca and Pescia and roughly how much a taxi would be from Lucca and Pescia to Hotel Country Club in Gragnano (nearest bus stop I can find to the villa).
We are trying to decide between ANFITEATRO - ELENA from Lucca Holiday Homes and Palazzo Froussard (property #994879) of HomeAway. . . Has anyone stayed at either? Thanks so much!
A group of friends will be staying in a villa ~10km from Lucca in a few weeks. It has been suggested that we must have a car, but some of us are not interested in driving on our holiday. We might like to have more wine than we should :) I found the prices for Radio Taxi Lucca, and they don't seem that unreasonable, especially in going from Lucca TO the Villa. But the other direction has me more concerned. Does anyone have experience getting to and from Lucca this way? Or with using a car service such as Tau Touring? Is the taxi reliable/prompt when you call them from 10km out and ask for a pick up? Can you schedule in advance? All help greatly appreciated!
We will be in Italy in June of this year and will be traveling from Venice to Pisa by rail on a Saturday, we will continue on to Lucca where we will spend the night. I wanted to know if there will be any shops, or thing open on Sunday? Ernie
We will be flying into Milan and need to take the train to Lucca. Any suggestions on booking a train. Should we try to do this on-line before leaving?
Is it easy to go from Lucca to Siena and Montecatini by bus as daytrips? How long would the journey be?
I am thinking of going to either Sardena or Sicily before staying for 12 days in Lucca. Any suggestions on which airport it would be better to fly into (Rome, Milan, or Pisa are my choices)? Then ferry to Sardena or Sicily? How are the ferries (no car) - would a stateroom be needed? do they sail in November (as the web only lists through October)?
What is the best transportation option to get from Venice to Lucca? All trains? Trains and busses?
I'd like to visit some villa located some km from Lucca. I mean Villa Marlia and others. Are there any buses to these?
What are the nicest beach resorts not far from Lucca in your opinion?
Is it possible to travel from Lucca to Livorno by bus?
Hi, Could anyone recommend day trips from Lucca - travel time (by train or bus) no more than 1 & half hours each way. Like to spend 4-5 hours in the place if possible. Don't mind if its just mooching (wandering/looking) around in museums etc or at the beach etc. thanks for any advice
We will be in Lucca in September. The Not Ordinary Ways (Tuscan Bike It) bike tour to a winery and countryside farm on Thursdays looks great. Has anyone been on this tour? Is it really easy pace? It takes about 5 hours. I really do not want to miss also biking the wall. Should we skip the long countryside tour and just bike the walls and stay inside the city of Lucca? Is there enough to do in Lucca after riding the wall?
Am planning a trip, but debating spending 2 weeks in Lucca or 2 weeks in Orvieto. Any suggestions? I know what the weather will be like -- but will Lucca still be a thriving city in November?
My husband and I are planning a trip to Lucca in late September. We are planning to rent bicycles for a few days. Are there any routes outside of Lucca that are not too dangerous to ride our bikes? We were hoping to bike to Pisa, but are not sure if the roads are too busy. Are there dedicated bike paths?
Is there a direct bus from Lucca to Barga? If so; where can I find the timetable to get to that village?
Could you suggest some seaside places not far from Lucca? Thanks!
Hi All I have a few questions that I hope someone may be able to answer.... We wil be in Lucca for 10 days in July - one day will be my birthday :-). We are trying NOT to hire a car. We have been to Lucca once before but that was just for the day. We travelled from Florence by bus. We are staying in an apartment and like to cook, using fresh local produce. Can anyone recommend a good market? Shop? We like good quality, preferrably organic free range.... For my birthday (Wed) we were considering a trip to the countryside, with a visit to a vineyard for wine tasting and a relaxing lunch. Can anyone recommend a tour operator that caters for small parties? (We don't fancy spending the day being shepherded around with a large coach party). We dont want to hire a car as we would have to restrict ourselves on the wine tasting - the whole point of the visit! Yeh, yeh - I know you're supposed to spit it out!! Any alternative suggestions as to how to spend my birthday would be good too. We are considering having my special birthday meal on the Thursday, we would like to have booked for lunch at La Mora, the Michelin star restaurant outside the city walls but I fear it may have closed as the phone line and website don't work?? Anyone familiar with this restaurant? Can you recommend? I have the details as Via Ludovica, 1748, Fraz. Sesto di Moriano, Ponte a Moriano (Lucca) Phone 0039 0583 406402, Phone and Fax 0039 0583 406135. I am currently in the process of creating a spreadsheet of 'eateries' in Lucca and would be happy to accept any recommendations. We like to sample authentic local cuisine in trattorias/restaurants that are mainly frequented by the locals. We love fine dining but equally love home cooked traditional well cooked food - country style. We are happy to go 'off the beaten track' if necessary. From Friday to Monday we will have two teenagers with us (17year old girl and 19 year old boy)!! The girl is vegetarian. Whilst I don't anticipate this causing much of a problem in Italy it would be nice to take them somewhere on their last night (Mon)where they can enjoy a special meal with a lively atmosphere, I would appreciate any suggestions! We are planning to take the teenagers to Florence for a day trip. We would prefer to take them on Sunday as they will probably want to rest up and see Lucca on Saturday. Monday is their last day so we would prefer to stay local so that they can enjoy the evening for their special meal. Is Sunday a bad choice? Will there be an issue with opening times, transport etc? Also would you recommend the train or the bus? We were thinking of taking the train. Getting excited now, only one week to go!!! Thanks Lisselle
I am going to Andrea Bocelli's concert in Lajatico, on july 21, 2011. I need to know a close hotel to stay and means of transportations from diferent cities. May be different options, I will be coming from Florence and stay in the area 2 or 3 days. Anybody have any ideas. Thank you

Does anyone have suggestions for reasonably priced cooking classes in Lucca - either 1/2 day or a full day? Thanks
We will be spending part of a week in Lucca in September. We are trying to decide between car rental and trains. I am worried about being able to do convenient day trip to Volterra and Siena without a car. What are my transportation options?
I know trains / busses are good to/from Lucca and Pisa and Florence... However, I am traveling with my 84 year old mother and I need a good / convenient way to get to/from Florence Airport and Lucca at about 800P in the evening. I can do private car service for EUR 110 each way but I thought I would check around.
Ciao, we are going to be in Tuscany on 2 dates of the Carnivale Parade in Viareggio. There are currently 2 options to get there from 2 different bases. Wondering if anyone would suggest the best option? Option 1. On Feb 16: By CAR/VAN to fit 6-7- from SIENA Parade starts 2.20PM (? not sure about this) We want to fit Pisa into the trip. So morning in Pisa and after that straight to Viareggio. How is parking in Viareggio during the parade? If there are designated parking, would choose this option but if not, then its option 2? anyone can help? OR Option 2. On Feb 21: By TRAIN from FLORENCE Parade starts at 5PM. Again, Pisa in the morning. I know we would have more time for Pisa but its just the climb up and compulsory photo that we want. Thanx in advance
We encured a parking fine on the 28/8/10. At the time, and as now, we do not know how to pay it. How do we pay a parking fine once back at home (Israel)?

Are there any direct buses from Lucca to Pietrasanta?
I have noticed an interesting listing in venere.com for the Petit Maison Sainte Justine B&B in Lucca. It has received no reviews on that site. Does anybody have any familiarity or information regarding that B&B?
What is the best way to travel from Rome to Lucca? After a week in Lucca, I'll be traveling to Dijon in France. So far, I have found only a 12 and a half hour train trip: Lucca to Florence; Florence to Milan; Milan to Lausanne; Lausanne to Dijon. I would leave Lucca 7:30 AM, and arrive in Dijon about 8:13 PM. Any suggestions? I thought about flying but Dijon has a tiny airport which services mainly charter flights, not commercial ones. I'll be arriving in Rome on May 18 and leaving for Lucca on May 22. Any help would be appreciated.
