car hire return lourdes station

by virgorine Online Now Mar 16, 2013 at 12:18 PM

I need to hire a car in Nice and drop it off at Lourdes station in the evening.
What car hire companies have a drop off area at lourdes station as I do not want to
drop off the car at the airport.

There is a car rental office at the Lourdes train station through http://www.europcar.com and it is a very reliable company. We've used it several times.

As another possibility, have you thought of taking the train to Lourdes from Nice? If you aren't doing sightseeing on the way, that would be much easier. Just a thought.

Thanks so much for the quick response.

I am wanting to hire the car in Nice as we are travelling to Gordes first.
I will be driving from Gordes to Lourdes hence the need to drop off at Lourdes
station in the evening. Will try Europcar, thank you, had also hoped to find one or
two other companies with drop off facilities at Lourdes station so that I could compare
prices but most seem to want the car returned to the airport. Thanks again.

We also use AutoFrance but they don't seem to do short-term rentals. The only ones I could find in Lourdes are AutoEurope and europecar. You could check both of those. You're right though, it's better to check several.

    Good luck.

thanks again, have emailed but if no satisfactory reply will call. Am in South Africa but easy to call so will see what email results bring.
I had actually hope to get a train from Gordes but there seem to be many connections along the way and as I am travelling with my mom of 74 I thought it easier to drive by car, long drive though. Thanks again for the help, most appreciated.

ahh i will be in your country tomorrow leaving today from Nantes France lol!!! JNB bound

car is better and if elderly person even better. Gordes is beautiful, many expats live around there this is a site by one
    beyond.fr/villages/gordes.ht...

and this is a site of the whole region of Luberon, very nice indeed
    luberon-en-provence.com/vill...

for the train the most schedules are on TER PACA the region webpage, no need to buy in advance for the regional trains only for the TGV
is in French but easy me think ::)

    ter-sncf.com/Regions/paca/Fr...

    hope it helps

THERE ARE TWO OF THREE SMALL CAR RENTALS IN THE CENTER OF LOURDES. HOWEVER, IT IS ALWAYS SAFER TO PURSUE LARGER COMPANY CAR RENTALS, SUCH AS HERTZ, BUDGET OR ANY OF THOSE INTERNATIONAL CAR RENTALS.
THE REASON BEING, IF YOU RENT CARS FROM SMALLER COMPANIES IT IS LIKELY IT WILL COST YOU MUCH MORE OPOST TO DROPPING THE CAR AT THE SAME OFFICE YOU PICKED IT UP FROM....

FROM OUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, IF YOU ARE COMING FROM U.S.A. IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO MAKE YOUR CAR RENTAL RESERVATIONS IN U.S.A. AS IT ALWAYS SO MUCH CHEAPER...WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT IS CHEAPER COMPARED TO RESERVING FROM WITHIN EUROPE....
    WISHING YOU A SAFE DRIVING.
