I don't actually know the specifics of this hotel or area but will reply until someone more familiar arrives to give the exact information. I'd say this would be a good choice. Courtyard by Marriott is a well respected chain in general and this one should be no different. In fact I've heard that it's one of the nicest, but I don't actually know that to be true. Marina del Rey is a pretty nice beach town as well so I'd say that this hotel should be good for you. It is several blocks from the beach area but not too far so you'll have a sort of buffer from the summer crowds but still will be near enough to enjoy it if you want.

This property has a ranking of 7 out of 12 hotels in that area. Gets good reviews from past guests. I would stay there if I was in the area. You can read all the reviews at www.tripadvisor.com

This Courtyard by Marriott is not near the water at Marina del Rey, CA. It is located right next to the off ramp or ending of the Marina del Rey Freeway on a very busy corner. You would need to drive or get a taxi to get to the beach or even to the Marina restaurants and Fishermans Village. I would look into one of the hotels right at the marina. Two of my favorites are the Jamaica Bay Inn with onsite dining and the Foghorn Harbor Inn with a Cheesecake Factory restaurant next door. A nice beach is here to separate the boats from swimmers. The views from this area of the 1,000's of boats of all sizes and the harbor area are great from the hotels on the waterfront. Many of the restaurants are fantastic dining ventures and my favorite is Shanghai Red's Inn at the Fisherman's Village. Not only is Larry's advice about hotels good, his restaurant suggestions are what you'd expect from the VT King o'Gourmets!
